How to clean oil residue in Turbo inlet
After looking into my Turbo intake and seeing all of the oil residue, I finally decided to install a catch can.
Now is there a way to clean up all of that oil? I was thinking of spraying some Gumout carb/choke cleaner into the Turbo intake, but I wanted to check here first.

you can use combustion chamber cleaners, anything that is compatible with the MAF sensor. I just spray it in through the MAF sensor with the engine running. I do half the can, let the engine sit for about 20 minutes (or what ever the directions say) and then use the rest on a second treatment.
spraying the cleaner through the intake while the engine is running will hit all the oil in the IC pipes, intercooler, and turbo. It's not perfect, but it does work well.
With my old DSM, the dealer recommended the mopar combustion chamber cleaner.
again, make sure that what ever you use, it's compatible with the MAF sensor, otherwise, you will need a new MAF...

Thanks chrisw. I was going to disconnect the airbox and MAF sensor, and spray some gumout carb/choke cleaner right into the turbo while the engine is running. Thats what I did on my other cars, but I wasn't sure this time about spraying it into the turbo.

Holy thread revival batman!
I'm looking at cleaning my Evo VIII stock turbo on the weekend, so this thread has provided some good information
If I were to remove the turbo completely to give it a good clean, do I have to replace the stock gasket as well? Given that it's quite a sturdy piece of kit, I'm hoping that I can reuse the current gasket without causing any leaking issues...
