i did a pressure test....::update still need help

I did a pressure test and it seems like i have a leak on a throttle body gasket? does that seem right?

Should i go ahead and replace my intake manifold gasket.. i hear those have problems with leaking?

Is there anyone on evolutionm that sells oe parts?

thanks,
Vinnny

Haha, where do you get it done? You do it in your garage, driveway, or parking spot.

Rcebowl, it may be your UICP.

Nooo don't worry about it.. It is air escaping past the throttle body shaft seals.. It was a problem in earlier dsm's but I have heard it shouldn's be worried about on these cars... it is normal to have a little air escape here.. Hope this helps

really?.. but i'm pretty sure i have a solid leak... becuase when i'm in WOT ... i hit my 20.5 psi and then drop to roughly 17.5ish which doesnt seem like it's holding up well..

would that cause a major loss of power? Having a air leak there?

20.5 to 17.5? Are you saying that you didn't know the stock turbo always tapers? That taper by no means indicates a boost leak. However, that doesn't mean you don't have a significant boost leak. You should be able to build 25psi in the system without it leaking more than very slightly as it seeps through the engine.

UICP = Upper intercooler pipe. You have switched out a part that is a very common cause for boost leaks. If you are leaking where the UICP connects to the TB, then maybe that's the reason. If you switched the TB seal, then I assume you already ensured there was no leak where the UICP connects.

ehhhh after more testing... when it's making it's making the leaking sound... when pushing or pullin the table cable .. it still countines at the same pitch... however when i push down on the spring thing *dont know the actually name for it.. but the spring that the cable is connected too* the leak gets quieter

Do you have a boost controller that usually holds it at 20.5? If not, then that just sounds like boost taper to me...

well i know even the stock turbo leaks... but when i told Al about that on another thread he thought that seemed like a lil too much and he figured it might have been a boost leak....

btw... it actually starts leaking at rouhgly 5 psi

The turbo doesn't leak - it tapers. My boost tapers from 28psi to 16psi, so be glad you only lose 3psi...
