last sat morning.. I dropped my car off to a mechanic that my friend knows... according to my friend he knows his ****... and he has worked on everything from corvettes to supras. he has never worked on an evo before but i work on cars for a living and they pretty much all work the same way. Well he is suppose to be putting my act clutch and flywheel in for me and a week later he hasn't had time to get to it and is having troulbe gettin the tranny out.... he has all the bolts and mounts out but it just wont wiggle out... he said the tob and shift fork are not in contact with the flywheel so i can't figure out why it won't come out... it is freaking me out and i could have put it in by myself in a week damnit.... he also says i will need tranny fluid gear oil for my transfer case and there is some kind of fluid line going from the transfer case to something else.. I was like dude i dont know im not there looking at it... WHY THE HELL DONT YOU CALL MITSUBISHI AND ASK THEM WHATS UP WITH IT?? I am so scared to go up there and look at it cause i am thinking he is gonna **** my car up... then what the hell am i gonna do.
I don't know why he's having trouble getting the tranny out, but I _can_ help you with some of the things you mentioned:
1) You need to get the proper fluids for 3 devices: tranny, t-case, and ACD.
2) The line he's talking about that is connected to the t-case is the ACD line. When he disconnected it, the ACD fluid will spill out everywhere.
3) Here are the proper fluids:
Tranny = Super Diaqueen GL-4 ($77 for 1 gal)
Transfer case = Diaqueen LSD Oil GL-5 (also for rear diff - $33 for 1 gal)
ACD = Diamond SP III ATF ($5.50 for 1 qt)
You can get all 3 of these at Mitsubishiparts.net or at your local Mitsu dealer, but it should cost less online.

You spend $35K on a car, and then try to save a few bucks by letting someone who has never worked on an Evo before, or maybe it's the AWD that's giving him the problem. Either way, you should think twice about who you let work on your car.
Live and learn...
$500 clutch
$200 cheap install
Not having your car for a week....BAD
Broken drivetrain parts....PRICE....ALOT!!!!

This reminds me of a post last year. The pictures he later put up was so crazy it's pathetic. I this they ended up breaking a bunch of things including the bell housing(tranny). I think you need to come to the shop and assess the situation yourself.
I worked with a friend and it didn't take a whole weekend to swap the clutch.

If you need someone else to do it PM me.
Well of course the tob and fork are not in contact with the flywheel, they never are.
He is obviously forgetting something. Maybe he forgot to take out the intermediate shaft. Hard to tell without looking to see what all has been taken out.
