haven't found any definitive information on whether or not the SAFC will work with the evo. I personally don't see the need for staged mods. Its not like its a new concept? Turbos like free flowing exhaust, first upgrade I would do is a 3" turboback exhaust. After the exhaust, pending the outcome a SAFC II and possibly some injectors. Why spend $800+ for 27hp when this is all common knowledge. Aside from the ECU its the basic mod profile of and AWD DSM.

It definitely can. Whoever it was who ran the 12.54 did so with the aid of an S-AFC.

That's the one. Didn't know if it was their car or a customer of theirs.

There are several threads stating that the AFC does indeed work... in fact, very similar if not in the exact same way as does on the DSMs.

Bushar has a post on his board about gaining 30 whp by leaning out a stock EVO on the upper RPM band... use the search function and you will find the posts

Haven't tried the S-AFC on our Evo 8...but it looks like it works well! We use the HKS Super AFR as it has 11 points of adjustment, 12 if you include idle! The S-AFC I believe works in 500 RPM increments. Both units work well, we're just huge fans of HKS products, can't beat their quality!

There was one feature of the S-AFC I was impressed with, which I don't recall seeing on the HKS or Greddy products, it has a blue lead that connects to the O2 sensor wire which can display the sensor voltage, Since I haven't installed it yet, I don't exactly know what it will actually do (IE automatically adjust the A/F to prevent damage) but It was definitely something I didn't notice on other products.

The S-AFC works well. We gained about 30whp getting the A/F ratio dialed in on the dyno. We went 12.54 at 112 mph with just the S-AFC, 19-20psi boost, air filter, and exhaust. The biggest gains where from the AFC and being able to lean out the top end. Our website has a tech article showing the dyno results of installing and tuning with the S-AFC.
