boost problem
boost problem
hey guys, i have been having a problem boosting for about a couple months now. I don't know what is wrong with it. I just got re-flashed from Al at Dynoflash but it still won't boost. I'm thinking its the wastegate. That's all I can think of. Or a boost leak. Anyone? Please Help!
do you see the needle moving at all? if the needle is stationary and its not even in vacum while at idle then you most definitely poped off the hose that runs to the boost gauge. that should be checked first. get back to me after that is checked.
hey guys my problen is that i am only boosting 1 bar this happened after i had put 100 octane and raised the boost. (Perrin MBC) after that i put 91 back into it and it only boosted 1 bar. I took the MBC out and went back to stock solniod. I then got flashed by al. Up till now i still am boosting 1 bar

have u checked the tightness of the boost hose that goes to the gauge itself? do you feel you car pulling or boosting but your guage seems to be wrong maybe? I would check the guage connections especially where its connected to get the boost readings. (ie intercooler pipe, intake manifold next to the throttle body, etc... )
Then a hose came loose or something, because there's no way that you just randomly dropped to 1 bar, then went back to the stock BCS and still see 1 bar. Neither of the things Mr Mejia said are helpful: resetting the ECU has nothing to do with this, and you don't have to raise the boost 1psi at a time.
Now, for the ECU to properly control boost, you have to have the EXACT STOCK BOOST LINES installed with both restrictor pills. Did you re-use your stock lines, and did you re-install them EXACTLY how they were from the factory? My guess is that you did not. You have to use the OEM Mitsu hoses for the BCS to control boost properly.
Also, your MBC should not have stopped working, and how/why did you go get flashed when your boost wasn't working? that makes no sense. It seems you just don't know the basics of how the boost system works, and you made hasty decisions trying to fix your problem with band-aids instead of finding the actual problem, which is probably something very simple.

I talked to Jamie at Works and he said that my boost controller was horrible because of the design of the Perrin boost controller. So I told him to get rid of it and just replace it with a brand new hose. The Perrin design had no locking. You just twist the MBC to change the boost. Jamie said that boost would not stay constant due to movement in the engine. Thats why I took it off.

I Also Got A Flash Because I Was Getting A Retune On My New Intake and I also got a testpipe. Just To Let You Know. I also figured why not request to al to adjust the boost to see if that helps.

He can't adjust your boost because you had a problem that was never fixed. Whether the MBC is bad or not, that has nothing to do with why your boost suddenly went to 1 bar. You also can't just replace the hoses with any random vaccuum hoses. They HAVE TO BE THE STOCK OEM MITSUBISHI BOOST LINES. Otherwise, no flash can do a damn thing to help you, because the BCS cannot regulate boost without those restrictor pills.
It makes no sense to go get tuned for other stuff when you have a boost problem. I don't know why Jamie would just say the Perrin is bad then put you back to stock without making sure everything works. The Forge and Hallman MBCs don't have locking mechanisms, but they don't randomly change their settings due to engine movement. Maybe the Perrin is a POS (why buy that anyway?), but there doesn't have to be a lock nut for the MBC to work well.
