I had the QTEC setup on my WW evo... The car had a 3inch Helix with the 3inch QTEC and the rest was stock cat back... on Pruven's Dyno I made over 32whp compared to it closed... dyno results should be in this forum somewhere.. I posted this sometime in 2004... I try to look for the dyno somewhere here

Did you have any problems with yours? Such as motors and so on?

ok i got the cure for this. this weekend al is coming to tune my car. it is going on the dyno after he tunes it. i will do back to back runs, one with the cut out closed and one with it open. because i know for a fact i am losing torque on the bottom end. and then we will all know if it makes power or not. expect a post from me on monday

I have the QTP, and have gone thru 3 motors also, you can open it up and close it at ANY time. I wore my motors out by opening it against the exhaust flow. I took it to Dyno4mance for a dyno, and the open and closed graphs showed NO GAINS!! but then again, if I put it on the DP, I am sure there would be some gains. my side-pipe is a LONG pipe, so you have to direct the air anyway out a long exhaust, so it is essentially a dual exhaust (for me).

I'm thinking about getting the dmh cutout..

it looks stronger than the qtp qtec. the butterfly looks way thicker. here is the link:

I do

. That is a log with my cutout open, look ma no knock!

Are you sure your ecu is really knocking? Just because you see less timing doesen't mean anything. Are you sure you aren't flowing more air and putting the ecu on a higher load cell wich results in MORE POWER AND LESS TIMING!

I ran the QTEC and now run the DMH. Don't waste your time, get the DMH. Its larger for the same size cutout and looks as if it will work for years before needing replaced.

I tuned a car in AZ this weekend which also showed no gains from a Qtip

How did you go through 4 motors ?

Ok first of all the link you gave doesn't work, second I wasn't speaking about knock. My ECU runs a few degrees less timing with the cutout open opposed to closed.

I found a company call mccord that seems to make better quality cut outs. They weld their butterfly to the shaft so no backing off. I think im going to go with this one.

Are you using the cutout with an aftermarket tbe or the stock unit? It seems like it would only benefit a stock exhaust.
