common engine failures poll
I'd like to have anyone who has had an engine failure post here. Please fill in the poll too.
What I am looking for is the cause of the failure, not who is to blame. I want to compile the data so people can see at a glance what is a common problem.
1,engine failed from bad tune on an aftermarket ecu
2,engine failed from bad tune / flash
3,engine failed from mechanical, not related to tune
4,cylinder # 1,2,3 or 4

You should also put 03, 04, or 05 up there.
Even though very little difference between the years with the engine format, it does point out a difference in the manufacture or something else i.e., mistu employee moral, training statuses, crap like that

I can't really answer the poll since it was never decided what caused my number 1 cylinder to spin a bearing. Tune looked good, oil looked fine, I didn't have a WBo2 so I don't know what my AFR was at when it finally went.

nrcooled, could your failure have been a mechanical problem not relataed to a misused tune?
that is good data to have though, I should have given a selection just for mechanical cylinder number too.
yes, please feel free to post your particulars.

sesso,
in some cases the owner/tuner knows what happened or figures it out based on what the damage was.
of course if a car is stock, pretty sure that is a mechanical problem.
