he has a 4 inch exhaust with a k&n filter running at 19 psi? is he tuned? is he nuts?

i woulnt think that oversized exhaust would cause it to stall. 4 inch???

it might be his unnecessary aftermarket fmic.

well for one thing a 4" exhaust is huge for only having an air filter. Second of all the turbo on the IX is supposed to be putting out like 22psi (correct me if im wrong) so if you are putting out a lower boost and have a huge exhaust i could imagine that the car would act weird especially if it hasnt been tuned.

What a erratic pattern of mods: 4"TB,FMIC,cone, no tunning.. no wonder why the car wouldn't start. Neither the FMIC nor the 4"TB is neccesary at those entry levels. I want to bet a 2.5" or 3" exhaust and a stock intercooler would have produce better results.

Also, I just surfed the AMS website and they don't have any 4" exhaust listed. I start to smell something here.... You guys know what I mean?

Also what is the point of a MBC if you are only running 19psi?

They do custom make them so its not impossible for him to have one, however i was thinking the same thing. Its probably the 3" ams tbe with the 4" tip

Yeah but I highly doubt a prestigious shop like AMS would even dare to build a 4"tb for such aplication. I doubt they would built a 4"TB for that customer with such mods. Everyone here knows that a 4" TB would hurt you more than help you on this particular case

Nope, despite what the factory says, it is 22 psi. Verified by 2 different gauges in my MR last night, when I thought the autometer was screwed up. This was a 2nd gear pull and it held it without tapering till about 4000 rpm. No mods other than an open airbox/K&N drop in. New exhaust didnt get here on time so nothing else got added.

Gauges used- Autometer Ultra lite carbon 30/30 and an Isspro 0-35

I concur wholeheartedly. And those diagnosing the problem as being a large exhaust on a turbo car....here's your sign.
