I think my Engine is done.....

Ok well after some very spirited driving on the highway to some family tonight, I think i my engine is dying.

2005 Evo 8

Driving Condidtions:

35 mins of WOT on and off at 16PSI from 60 mph - 100mph at times.

Pulls from low RPM to 7k a few times.

Once tonight at 21PSI to 7k.

Temp around 75 degrees.

-------------------

Engine and mods:

Changed oil at 15000k now 16190miles on the clock.

Greddy Evo 2
Test Pipe
HKS Downpipe
HKS RS Intake
Greddy types s EBC
APS BOV
Walboro FP
Greddy TT

90% Driving at 16PSI

rest of the time or when really want to push it, 21-22PSI.

Flash: JEster Tunin M2 Flash.

----------------------------

Well i got to my family's home and stepped out the car and set the TT to 1 minute to cool off becuase of the spirited driving. As i was walking away I heard this loud *** rattling. I walked back to the car and listened closer. It sounded like what a diesel engine sounded like. I was lke WTF.

So i visited the family and didnt say a word to them about it. I lived 30 miles away and HAD to get home to go to work at 5am tom. So i sat in the car before an hour ago and turned it on to go home and there was no noise. I slowly cruised home at no more than 55mph and never hit boost.

I got home and listened again and heard nothing....

Ileaning to think I may have spun a bearing.....

I know that sort of noise is not something you just forget about.....

I don't knowwhat to do now...

Just thought Id share my story....

That wont tell him if he has a spun bearing - take it to a performance shop of decent mechanic and let them listen to it

If it was a spun bearing would the sound come and go?

Does the sound go away when you put your clutch in?

This was as I was a walking away from the car so it was as the cluthc was out.

I know for sure that was not the chatter from the throw out bearing normally experienced by most owners.

I have that already, lol. This was much louder, to the point I could have heard it from 15 feet away.

I can hear the clutch chatter from 15 feet. Try the clutch in and out test next time you hear it.

If it is a bearing, with your mods I would flash it back to stock, replace stock exhaust, remove EBC and make Mitsu fix it.

Did you have your A/C on during your walk away? I know my A/C compressor is very noisey in that very situation.

Is a neighborhood pet missing? check for a cat in the belts. I am in the same boat, same noise, after a spirited run. I am taking it in to pull the pan today. I will let you know what I found, and you let us know what you found!

Lol,

Heres whats seems abnormal. After the last oil change and me putting in 4.25 quarts of oil, and checkin the dipstick this morning, I noticed the oil is above the full mark by a good ways. Did a number of pulls on the stick and it was always showing overfillll Is that normal?

The noise didnt happen this morning after comming to work this morning. Nothing seems loose in the bay as far as checkin it this morning.
