But what about Auto-x!!!

I'm not convinced yet ..a GT3076 w/.63 A/R is looking pretty good so far

Bump! I'm in the same situation ,Stew. My .02, for tuning, I would stay away from TurboTrix.
Their tuning is the reason why I need a new block

Really i dunno TT has been good to me but i have heard stories. I had my old wrx tuned by them with utec. I broke 300whp with a vf22 and the cars motor is still running strong with 45,000 miles. Yet i have had a few friends with subbys that made less power and blew thier motors.

I thought they were the best around for evo's and dsm's? but anyway what other shops around NJ or NY are thier to go to?

Go with the .82 ar, especially with the stroker. Good luck with your project and make sure you monitor everything.

Only other places in the Tri-state area that I know of is IveyTune and Pruven.
But with my personal experience with TT I would never ever go back there. I had to go back twice because they "forgot to tighten down my cam gears", which resulted in my car being a giant flame thrower and running worse than without any tune at all. And this all took about an hour on the phone with them to finally admit that it was their screwup.

Its not like I have never heard anything good about TT, I have. But bad aswell, and I chose wrong IMO.

But anyway, anyone else know any other Tri-state tuners?

Hey Stew, just wanna say good luck with everything, man. I'll follow your progress via the board, because I'm off to Hawaii in a couple of weeks for the next few years . I know you can't wait to be back in business with the Evo!!

You can get 500WHP on a 50Trim and alky and a stock bottom end, why not on a stroker?

Stew, Stew! Stop thinking like you are going to still be running a 2.0L engine!

I would agree with the GT3076R turbo, but I would go with the .82 hotside over the .63 . You are porting the heads for better flow, putting in bigger valves, 272 cams and increasing the displacment to move more air in and out of the engine. I think the .63 hotside will counter act all the work that you put into the head by creating a large restriction in the exhaust flow and hurt your top end power.

Man, do a .82 hotside and forget it! The .82 should be a good match for the engine and head combo that we were talking about.

Remember I am going with crazy head work with 280 cams and XX has recomended that I go no smaller than a .93 hotside.

Burshur does some awesome work and have probable built every engine/turbo combo possible. Tap their knowledge to match your head work with the proper hotside A/R, just to get a more EVO friendly opinion

Good luck in Hawaii! Keep us posted on the scene out there, and I'll keep the board posted on my progress as well

True, but you have to keep in mind I'm going for a little sacrafice on the top end to bring the powerband lower where it can be more accessable for Auto-x. I'm still up in the air, and am definitely considering the .82. Hopefully some Buschur guys will chime in here with their experiences

I shouldnt have said you cant, because you can but.. reliably? Absolutely not. 500whp is maxxing out the 50 trim/3076 and the stock bottom end... I dont thikn thats what this guy is lookin for.... someone like me... yeah thatd be fine lol.

Then for starters, forget the 8500rpm figure you mentioned earlier. You don't need it, don't want it with a stroker. Keep a 7500rpm lid on it.

A 3076 will get you your 500+whp (DJ) with a proper setup and tuning. Even a .82 A/R hotside on the larger displacement 2.3 will make for a very fun, fast autocross car with a fat torque curve. With that ported head, you might even consider what benefit you'll get from a set of cams that can take advantage of the increased flow potential.

like Ted B said... if your goal is auto-x, defintly the 3076 with the .82 hotside. your not gonna be revvin her past 8k, so a gt30 or 35r are kinda pointless, as they are great for high revving motors, as in, they are great turbos for the upper parts of the power band (the gt30 is on the fence). take advantage of that stroker, get that 3076 spooled up, run an alky kit, pump the boost, and dominate the auto-x!
