Question T.M.E. Evo VII, or save $10000?

Guys,

I put this in the technical section because the decision is technically based, even if the answer can somewhat be an opinion.

I left a deposit on an T.M.E. yesterday, and I get a call this morning from my agent, saying that there were several more EVOs coming up within my price range, and I was asked if I wanted to look at them, before committing my bid to the T.M.E.

My budget for this car is about $60,000AUD ($36,000USD) which, is right for Australia (I know it's more than you'd pay for a new one in the US, but that's just our market).

I can either get

1) A Grade 5 (Immaculate) Tommi Makinen Edition Evo 6.

2) A Grade 5 regular Evo 7

3) A Grade 4.5 (minimal wear and tear evident, no damage) regular Evo 6, with $10K AUD to spare.

I'm thinking that 10K is a lot of money to do upgrades with - and if I upgrade the T.M.E. anyway, I'm losing lots of the benefits (EG, bigger exhaust, bigger intercooler are the first mods that come to mind, but they come stock on the T.M.E, so am I paying for something that I am going to replace?)

What do you guys think? Have the 10K and tinker? Or get the special edition?

hard decision....i personally would have a hard time modifying the TME because it is, well maybe not in AUS but in the US, rare. But looking at those picts makes me want to say get the TME.

As I understand, there are only 2 models permitted to be complied to australia - GSR and Tommi Makinen. The others are too stripped down to be a road car, apparently.

I have not heard of any RS or RS2 models being imported into Aust.

The car will be a daily driver, but I also do track time, and I want to go off road with this.

Get the Tommi. The new Evo is in America for Pete's sake. It's gonna be worthless because everyone's gonna have one. A Tommi is truly a collectors car. I'd get that over an Evo 8 in a heartbeat. No doubt. Tommi Mak all the way.

It appears the overwhelming agreement is that the TME is it!

Well, I'll call him back in 5 minutes (It's 8:55am local time) and tell him my decision is final.

Apparently, there will be some Evo VIIIs imported at the end of the year by Mitsubishi Ralliart, so any "normal" Evos, which were grey imported will fall in value... So definitely, the TME looks like it would hold better value.
