Weatherstripping blocking air duct on intake?

Question,

I have noticed that the evo has the duct for air to enter the intake chamber, but there is weather stripping blocking the path with the hood closed. So, how much cool/cold air can be getting in if any? Anyone removed the offending section of weatherstripping? Any help would be appreciated.

If this is true, I would remove the weatherstripping in the area the obstructs airflow to the intake... I would leave the rest in tact.

On DSMs, many people removed the weatherstripping at the rear of the hood/along the firewall to allow hot air esacpe the hood... somewhat of a free mod that helps a bit.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, several different cars do "free mods" such as "cutting away excess material" that comes from the factory... the latest car that comes to mind that does this are the 03 Cobra guys that cut the hood liner material out to allow the factory vents to actually work.

Mine is the same way and it appears to be designed to draw the air that passes through the opening in the radiator cowl after passing through the grill opening. This is contrary to the conventional "ram air" set up it looks to be with the hood open.

Bushur and Vishnu both say that stock setup is adequate and not worth changing. Neither have mentioned any alterations to factory configuration. Bushur is running in the 12's with it that way which indicates it must not hinder performance.
