I've found peanut butter to work well on my 318ti. Works great on all other black molding as well. Tape around the molding to keep it off the paint and rub the peanut butter on and then wipe off after you finish coating the whole piece. An old toothbrush works well to apply it. The natural oil in the peanut butter also gives it a nice look when your done. Check bimmerforums.com and search for peanut butter for more information.

I have been detailing cars for many years, and have found that rubbing alcohol works the best, as well as then adding a nice coat of Meguiars Black Trim Detailer. You may need to re-apply the trim detailer as needed... but should last for quite a while and keep your black pieces looking like new.
