Extremely hard to shift *HELP*
TKE413,
I did not have the time to read everyones responses, i have had that problem before, check your cable mechanism at the engine bay, I am almost sure there is someting in the way.
That had happened to me 3 times now, :
Either my mini battery kit giving problems because now the wires are routed directly above the shifting mechanis
Or my in cabin RX hallman boost controller cable in the way
Or my methanol high pressure line in the shifting cables way
in all the 3 ocasions the problems were directly on the engine bay compartment by the shifting cables. At one point I could only drive 2 or 3 gears.
Also, you can change the tranny oil to GM Shyncromesh or red line MTL or Royal purple.
Goodluck!!

Is this a common problem with the bushings? How do you prevent that from happening? I have the brass bushings and I have yet to install them. Now that I read this, I am very reluctant to do so. Any input is appreciated.

I used anti-seize on mine, the gray stuff like u put on spark plugs. Had 'em in for over 40k miles now and haven't touched 'em. I live in CO too with a WIDE variety of temps. However, the longest my car has ever just sat is like a week. Otherwise, I drive it almost every day so they never really had a chance to seize up on me.
Also, a buddy of mine had these and had his tranny worked on by a shop or the dealer can't remember which. That mechanic didn't re-grease them when he reinstalled them, and they binded up a short time after. So if you had it worked on, you might want to check 'em...

Works best if installed with these at the same time...

hello guys, sorry to revive this old thread, but I think I might have the same problem.. I have had the buschur underhood 2 piece brass shifter bushings for over a year now and whenever I try to shift into 2nd or 5th gear it is hard as hell to get into.. I got my fluids changes not even 2k miles ago and that helped a bit, but the shifting was still bad. I see that you guys lubed up the bushings, when I installed mines didn't do that at all 8-x... It was really hard to get on so kinda drimelled and grinded the edges and it fit perfectly.. Where could I purchase anti-seize?
If i remember correctly, the top ones look similar to the buschur ones I got.. I don't think I used those clips when installing mines; then again i don't remember because it has been over a year.
