Exclamation 5 speed into MR swap thread!

So I have the swap 99% completed.. I want to make this thread for future refrence for members planning on this swap since there is a bit of lack of info and I have found a few things not covered..These are the parts you will need, if someone can scource part numbers I will edit this list to reflect them..

Parts needed:

1. 5 speed transmission

2. 5 speed shifter base with shifter

3. 5 speed shifter cables

4. Washers for the 5 speed cables and linkage. ( the MR has ONE washer you can use, you will need to order another for the trans. side linkage)

5. Retaining pins for shift cable linkage. ( you need 3 total, one for the shifter connection and two for trans linkage connection.) You can re-use the ONE pin you have from the 6 speed, but you will need 2 more total..

6. Upper transmission mount for 5 speed

7. 5-speed clutch line. You can re-use the 6 speed line but you will have to bend it significantly to get it to fit/work.

8. 5-speed clutch line support. This holds the hard clutch line in place with a clip. You can also cut off the extra metal from the 6 speed unti to get it to work.

9. 5-speed shifter cable support for transmission, if not included with transmission.

10. 5-speed wire harness for speedometer and reverse switch.

This is everything needed to do the swap. You can use the MR shift knob on the 5 speed shifter..

Hope this helps

Again if anyone has part numbers for these parts it would fully complete this post

I'll map all the part #'s for you tonight.

I'm surprised it took this long for a list like this to pop up.

You also need the 5spd shifter bezel unless you want to modify your 6spd one.

My 6 speed one fits fine, although I heave heard it can pop out out or something.. I dont see any clearance issues but it was rubbing the shifter mount a little..

This is awesome, and should be a sticky when it's done.

If my 6-speed ever gives up, I might need to consider a swap.

What about going the other way, or partially. Great write up. I am curious about an MR ACD going into an 8....

I have an eight, but want ACD.

You will need the ECU and wire harness for that to work, as well as acd pump, lines, and T-case...$$$$$$

I will write a list for going the other way also

We can take that offline if needed, or open another post...
