POLL. My Ic pipe popped off

Seeing that this has happened to me a few times and other I feel that this is becoming more of a safety issue. I had mine pop off in the middle of the freeway and normally i don't care but I had my kids in the car this time and the clamp got lost when it happened. Maybe MMC can do something about it if we show them. This poll only applies to those that are using stock IC pipes and clamps, factory boost, no internal mods no aftermarket BOV. (intakes and Turbo backs are ok). Only JDM MR or factory BOV for this poll please

I haven't experienced this yet and I've been up to 7000 RPM a few times. I check all the connection every time I check the oil level, which is about every few days. From what I've seen on this site, it happens quite a bit. I keep a small tool kit just in case in happens far from home. Now I've only had the EVO for three months and down the road I would like to purchase at least the LICP and at that time I would like to replace the clamps with something better.

Well, my Evo is fairly new, so it hasn't happened in the Evo yet. However it's happened several different times in my Eclipse. From the I/C pipes, to the BOV, and intake popping off! Yes, I finally got the flange fixed on the BOV, and got tbolt clamps for the pipes!
It was always scary when it happens though. But Thank God it was nothing worse.

NO. This is just as bad as when nissan and bmw had ecu recalls regarding on how the car will just shut off and die. I mean here in L.A. if your driving at full speed traffic and then it just pops off you can't do ****. It has no power and it barely moves and your trying to exit but have all these other cars speeding by you

Yeah I keep tools in the car too but twice did it pop off and the clamp fell out which really left me screwed because I had no way to keep it in place.

After mine popped off the second time, I threw on some t-bolts and haven't had a problem since.

have 22k on the car (2005 Evo), run 22-23 psi, the pipe has never popped off. Fingers crossed.

My friend's 03 used to pop it off often.

Mine popped off from the throttle body when I only had about 1k miles or so and bone stock. Soon after that, it was never the same so I had to replace it with another clamp which so far is holding up. I've replaced a few with some t-bolts, but I still need some more.

Happened to me a few times, always on the freeway. The first time I got stuck in the middle lane because other *******s on the road wouldn't let me over. I finally got space and "chugged" the ***** to the side of the rode. Got me some military grade hose clamps and it never happened again.

(Military grade hose clamps are just like normal hose clamps, except they're free from your local motor pool. )

Mine popped off from my throttle body just last week. My car only has 2,000 miles on it and is bone stock. I was cruising on the highway at low boost (0-1psi), heard a faint pop and then I had to pull over.
I was a little upset, but it was a quick fix. If it happens again the dealership will be getting a phone call.

Did u buy the car used? If so, maybe the person before you had switched out IC pipes and didn't put on the right size clamps or just didn't tighten them correctly.
