has anyone thought to ask Invidia to put the sensor back in the stock location?? no one has even stated the benifit to having the O2 sensor on that side. why did they do that?? why not just put it in the stock location?? OR get a O2 sensor bung and drill a hole and weld the bung to the stock location?? problem solved.

o2 sensor bung -$10.00
local shop to tig weld it-$45.00
having no headaches on the O2 sensor wiring during/after install-priceless...

done for $55.00

i'm confused. Do you guys not know how to solder, or are you afraid to, or what?

I did it, and it works 100% fine and dandy, just survived a track day at sebring, which i'd imagine is a whole lot rougher than a trip to get groceries

Apparently there can be or are some issues with high temp wires to take the solder, as related by some of the contributors of this thread.

Frankly, I prefer a jumper solution to splicing into things, always have, always will. Sometimes you can't avoid it of course.

To each his own.

Thanks to Anarchy99 for getting it done.

just makin sure, as i can't imagine it getting any hotter than what i get it

for anyone that can solder decently, this is cake, and i'd recommend soldering, rather than clipping, again, just a more perminant solution to me.

so does the shielded wire solder well afer you fry the shielding off?

and what does everyone think about buchur's tests of the o2 housings.

yes. i've always done the loop treatment regardless...

take the wire, loop about 3/4 of an inch back. do the same, intertwine, so when either side is soldered, it can't come loose, then fill.

shrink wrap, and tape, and you're good to go.

you can do some serious engine damage being that the o2 sensor is not being able to monitor the exhaust gases. you will go into limp mode and will run pig rich. i will bet you have a check engine light also...the o2 sensor needs to be hooked up for proper engine management via the ECU.

I welcome and commend Buschur's efforts and dyno test. Does this mean that the Invidia should be ruled out? There are already a number of people running this unit without a problem. Buschur's tests should be considered but by no means should he be the FINAL deciding factor. Too many people just follow a horde mentality that since Buschur said it, it MUST be true.

Here are the pics I promised of the O2 sensor wiring relocation:

The O2 sensor is on the other side of the engine and so is the wiring!

The O2 sensor wiring and harness are between the valve cover and the upper intercooler pipe.

It took about 30 minutes, but its well worth it.

Oh one more thing. I didn't do this alternation until after several thousand miles of driving with the O2 sensor wiring stretched on passenger side of the exhuast manifold. However, the wire was still in great shape. Just one small area of the sheather was slightly worn. However, swithing the wire over to the other side had to be done.
