Invidia O2 Housing Install - O2 Sensor Cable Problem
UPDATE on Casper Electronics O2 cable extension.
After several weeks, turned into months of waiting, Justin told me today that he has't made any progress with the company that makes the connectors. The basically won't talk to him about selling him any.
SO ..... I'm gong to go with kimletrim's idea. It's cheap, easy. and effective.
good job!
I may have a bung installed in the stock location, if and when I remove the Inv O2 housing, when I switch out my ex mani.

Friends
Just put on the invidia o2 housing looks great but the 02 sensor was up against the waste gate solenoid arm. I didnt realize this till i went to get on it and at first the car knocked thought that was strange since it has a good tune and never has before. I knew because of the check engine light is set to flash with a 7 count no bueno. Got on it once more then seemed fine. Almost to buddy esevos house stepped on the throttle bang huge back fire and car shuts off wont run wont start. Thank God for friends. Evan runs to my assistance it was dark but he immediately figured out i had blown the engine fuse. Dude is smart. The o2 sensor stuck out just enough for the waste gate to have almost ripped off the wires from the o2 in one fatal swoop. The o2 sensor had grounded out on itself and popped the ecu fuse. The only way i could figure to solve this problem was to use the old rear 02 sensor the evo came with because it is like 1/2" shorter. Took the 02 harness plug off the old front 02 sensor transfered it to the shorter o2 sensor stuck it in and walla. Runs great my heart is still jumping out of my chest having thought i nearly blew up my car. Evan assures me all is good but man that was scary to go from full power to coasting with everything off. Thanks evan smith your a life saver
So, I am trying to extend my O2 sensor wires, for my Invidia housing. The problem is that I didn't realize that the 2 black wires were identical. Does anybody know what their function is, or if it is critical not to cross them when soldering in my extension?
Reroute O2 wiring to opposite side
I have the Invidia O2 housing as well. The only way to effectively get enough length is by rerouting the O2 wiring to the driver's side of the valve cover, cross in front of the turbo compressor and into the O2 housing. This route works perfect and only took me about 30 minutes!!! :
i had same problem cut and added 3 in of wire and works fine i was extremely pissed at doin this cause theres no reason for somthing stupied to be done like that just shows that zero though went into this when it was designed i hate after market parts lol
in most cases they are the "heater" wires.
I don't think it would be a good idea to short them when soldering the extension. I don't know that for a fact though. May be someone who knows for certain will weigh in.
(The other ones are a lower voltage since the are for the sensor send unit. I'm not in front of my car, but if there are 2 other colors, they are the sensor pos and neg).
A lot of guys just split the loom apart and re route the oem cable the other way around to the housing. seems to work pretty good that way.

^^ I wish I did that, but I've already cut my wires. I was stupid and didn't mark one of the black ones. I've already soldered the blue and white wires, but I don't know which black wire came from where. Like you said, I suspect they are heater wires. If that is the case, i don't think crossing them would be a big deal... on the other hand, if I'm wrong I don't know what would happen...
Oh, I see what you mean.
Get a magnifying glass and look for any clues on the wires, there might be printing or markings, or something that will give a clue as to which is which
Otherwise you could also just post this on a separate forum, like General or something (?) Somebody's gotta know for sure if it would be a problem.
I see your point though.
Good Luck!
