Come on, man, you know that question can't be answered. You could make it half a day, or you could make it 100 days. It depends on how you drive, how you launch, how you shift, how much power you have, yadda yadda yadda.

Basically, if you do ANY drag racing with the stock clutch, you should have an upgraded clutch waiting in reserve, because it will likely go out in a hurry. If you have an MR and are modding it, yet won't have money for a clutch for years, then I think you made a poor decision on your purchases, and I highly recommend NOT drag racing even once.

yea i am thinking of getting the tune from turbo trix with the launch control jsut because im told its the better reflash but it sucks cause if i use the launch control im pretty much garenteed to need a new clutch very quickly. so i wont be able to use it

You're told it's the better flash? Mmmm, k. They will give you a great flash, sure, but I don't know who told you it would necessarily be better.

Yes, the stock clutch gets completely overpowered by a 6k launch control. I didn't know TT offered launch control with their TechTom flashes, though, but I know they do it on the EcuTek flashes ($$$). Either way, you won't want to use it.

Also, please don't listen to what sscollision said. Dropping the clutch at 6k would not hurt the clutch - it would just destroy the tranny. To launch properly, you have to slip the clutch, and slipping the clutch causes heat, and heat causes it to go out quickly.

You say you plan to race some otherwise there's no reason to have the Evo. I agree, but if you want to race, then you should have enough money to do repairs, otherwise you can't really afford the Evo.

its true i admit i rushed into buying it but after i test drove it i was hooked the only reason i say it would take years to get the money is because of college i mean i could buy a clutch but then that would cause me to take like 2 semesters off of school

A 35k car that you mod while in college? Wow, must have a good job. You shouldn't race OR mod that thing, because things WILL break, and you will have 0 warranty. Dangerous path you tread there...

Yeah, the clutch will still probably go out around 25-30k miles, but that should take a few years unless you ride the clutch and don't drive particularly well. You should avoid launching ever...not just all the time.
