Need help choosing a clutch...

im looking for the best street/drag clutch for my set up. my car is not a daily driver but i do drive it a couple of times a week and drag race it. i have an exedy twin carbon right now, but im having the same problems as other people on this forum with it. the disks are warped and need to be replaced, so im deciding if its better to get another clutch or rebuild this one.

power wise i should be around 500+whp 450+wtq (dynojet, reason for such high tq is b/c i have a fully built stroker motor). right now im looking at the tilton twin ceramettalic and exedy twin HD. appreciate the help!

Well I have an exedy triple cerametallic and it just started crapping the bed on me after 250+ passes, 42k miles and tons of abuse. I will find out mid week, but the clutch still might be fine, and if that is my case, when these clutches "give out" they just start gripping like a heavy pressure single clutch (not able to slip), which unfortunately shocks your driveline and breaks other parts.

You don't have to worry about it slipping though.

how does the clutch feel? im leaning towards this one but there are alot of people on here using the exedy twin hd and are happy with it. its definitely a tough decision, but im curious to see why people choose the tilton. do you think it can hold the power i will be making?

ATS is very very drivable and made for drag racing. Most Japanese don't drag race so it is hard to find a japanese clutch that will handle the abuse of drag racing. I had the ATS Twin Carbon in my old RS and I pulled it out to go in my new MR. The clutch was in perfect condition when we removed it even after 100s of launches at the strip. I was doing consistant 1.6 60' with that clutch and only 300WHP. If you are interested or want more information PM me.

I believe the Tilton is rated at about 550-600 lb/ft torque, so I don't see an issue there.

The pedal is easier than stock. And it grabs excellent. We use it in a track day/time attack daily driven car with mild horsepower, and is easier to drive than the OE was.

I have the Tilton Cerametallic, and have just over 700 miles on it. I like it as far as it shifting/holding together. It is kind of tough but it is driveable. I've killed it like 20 times in the past week that I've put the 700 miles on it. I also drove a friend's car with a Exedy Twin and it was alot easier to drive, but I know the Tilton holds 100ft/lb more and has the hydraulic t/o bearing. I think the Tilton is worth it just for that fact alone, but that's just me.
