Shiftin w/out clutch

Hey everyone, i recently got an evo like 2 1/2 weeks ago. And sometimes i shift w/out a clutch, i know for a fact if you do it right, it won't hurt anything. But i'm wondering whether is different to an evo? Thanks for the info.

yes do it often. . . very often. Oh yea did I mention that its good for the tranny it makes it stronger actually. HA J/K, Don't do it. The best thing I would recommend for this car and any other manual car is Rev matching always.

So the evo's have special synchros or what? As long as there's no grinding/unusual noise, it should be ok, that's what i was told by one of my instructors, but i don't know whether it applies to evo trannies, i see no difference. But i'm just trying to get an answer. And i don't do it 100% of the time i drive, cause i wasn't too sure about the evo trannies.

From what i have heard with the old muscle cars you can but you have to be very precise, if done wrong your gonna f' everything up, if i recall this is called power shifting, using the power and speed of the motor to suck the gear in with out using the clutch. But hey if you think you can do it try it out and tell us the outcome.

The only thing with shifting w/out a clutch, is that you match the synchro speed to the gear speed. That's why i'm asking about a evo trannie, i've seen one apart, just the case, and it looks like any other tranny, except that the ring and pinion is like really thick. But thank you guys for all the info, i'll ask a mitsu tech, just to find out for sure. I only did it a few times. But i won't do it anymore til i know for a fact.

Yes you most certainly can shift it without the clutch. As long as you rev match the engine speed with the trans speed you won't grind or do any damage...that is the whole purpose of syncros. BTW, don't skip a gear while shifting...syncros won't help you there!
