Which turbo for 700awhp?
Which turbo for 700awhp?
I am contemplating between a few different turbo's and I can't decide because I have no knowledge of which would benefit me more.
I am trying to reach 700+awhp and I know a GT35R can't reach that level, but what turbo can and most important which housing will allow the fastest spool.
I will be on a 2.3l stroker and fully built head with this turbo. I am currently using 1000cc injectors, but I'm guessing that these will not be enough.
I know AMS offers a GT37 turbo kit, but isn't that similar to a precision turbo already on the market?
Anybody have a GT40 setup on their car?
What are the specs on your turbo?
Who did you buy it from?
What size injectors are you using and what is the duty cycle?
How big of a difference is there between the flow of a T3/T4 and a T04?
Thanks for any help.

I just want to purchase the bigger turbo ahead of time incase the stocker grenades! Then I won't have to wait while a new turbo is shipped to me. I will already have it waiting.
What are some of the specs for a GT37R?
How is the spool and with what AR?
What boost level to reach 700awhp?
What size injectors?
Any other information regarding the GT37R would be great.
Not too many choices.....
First question, what Dyno are you looking to hit these numbers on....
In all seriousness, what are your goals for the car? Drag only? I assume not, as you are going with a 2.3.
I would say a 37R, if you are only looking for close to 700awhp. You will have decent spool-up & still retain most of the driveability. Seems like the AMS turbo is a good option, but I think they are sold out until December.....

Do you really want something as big as a 40R?

Well, currently I get the car tuned on a dynojet so the numbers read higher than others. So, maybe I should be saying 750whp on a dynojet, lol.
I am considering the GT40, but not necessarily sold on it. Thats why I made this thread.
I also heard Precision makes custom turbo's so I was curious if anybody has something along those lines from them.
The Full Race kits look nice, but I don't need all the stuff they offer in them. I sent them an email regarding the products I was interested in so hopefully they will get back to me soon.
I could get Buschur to build me a manifold, but from reading threads in the past he is not keen on building tubular manifolds.

i'm currently building a 40r kit with slickmotorsports.. of course i'll be using a 2.3 stroker to help spool it. i was running a 35r kit and pretty mugh maxed that out and was looking for a little more. i went through the same thing you are now... which turbo? 37r, 40r or 42r? well the 37r was pretty much done around 700whp, since i was already making high 500's that ruled that out, i needed more power! the 42r will make all the power in the world but i wanted something a little more streetable, besides i didn't need to make 1000+whp! so that bring me to the 40r. now i heard from a few people that had some lag issues with the early 40r's.. but what we realized was those were the "out of the box" 40r's with huge 98ar hot sides that took forever to spool, now granted when they did, look out!! but now precision has released new 40r's with smaller 68 and 78ar hot side's and a few extra's for much better spool and responce and power! these 40r's are still capable of making at ton of hp!! efficently too..... now i'm not positive, but pretty sure nobody else is running this 2.3 40r with a 68ar we're bulding.. 800+whp is the goal, which is just perfect in my opinion! and with a little nitrous to boot, ridculous highway pulls and 9's at the track should be a regularity...
anyways i hope this helps your decision and maybe gives you a little insight..

the 37r/67 p-trim can get you to your goal of 700 easily. the 67wheel is about the end of the road for a decent spooling street turbo that can still build boost under part throttle. i just ordered the ball bearing 67 from fullrace. they are available.
