Dual Port vs Single Port hot side

Just wondering if any one has any info a the difference between the dual port and single port hot sides besides the obvious. Which is better? One provide more HP than the other? Any info would be a help as I can not find this info by search.

There is no single port, but there is a single flapper design (still has dual ports). Mitsu updated the design by going from dual to single flapper and different wastegate port. Here is the breakdown:

- 6.5 TME = 16g6 with Ti/Al internals and dual-flapper 10.5 cm^2 hotside
- USDM 03/04 VIII = 16g6 with dual-flapper 9.8 cm^2 hotside
- USDM 05 VIII - 16g6 with single-flapper 10.5 cm^2 hotside

So, Mitsu would have us believe that the new single-flapper dual port design on the new 10.5 hotside starting in 05 is an improved version, but there has been no dyno evidence that there is any difference in power or spoolup.

I have read a few times that there is not a difference in power from a few folks. I have the single flapper on my 03 which was a tad more expensive...

Someone made what sounded to be a possibility around the idea that the single flapper was simply cheaper to manufacture, who knows...

Personally, I think it must have some impact to boost regulation, etc... Mitsu must have had some reason for this change...

I think the single flapper is suposed to create less turbulence than the double when it opens.

Dual flapper..

Btw the White Rabbit has the TiAL internals, 10.5 hotside with the single flapper design, compressor wheel has different clip I believe.
I figured it was worth mentioning because its the only 16G I know of which comes with all the features.

We were also told by Mitsubishi USA that the single flapper was superior to the dual flapper. Flow benching and dyno testing revealed no difference. After talking to those in the know back in Japan, supposedly the dual flapper version is superior in certain cirumstances, but MHI saves almost $1 by moving to the single flapper version. The single flapper is a newer cheaper version. We just run with the dual flapper because it costs us the same...

Cheers,

Gary
