Dreaming of 600HP!!!

When I finally get my Evo, which I hope will have little to no change from the J-Spec Evo. I want to be able to mod it up to 600hp. Do any of you have an estimate to how much this will cost? What will I need to get up there and how to maintain it? I can pretty much say its my dream car. An Evo with 600HP with full interior; not a Ferrari, Viper, or other fancy expensive car.

600HP EVO i dont have an exact estimate but it will prolly be im GUESSING around 20k+ in engine mods. then you need suspension brake upgrades. if you can even get it that high 450HP to 500HP is more reasonable. you will prolly be getting 7 miles to the gallon with a 600HP EVO to.

Someone already beat you to it:

I figure 500 or so hp is enough for me. I mean I am going to use it as a daily driver. Of course a bigger turbo will most likely be the last thing I do.

7 miles to the gallon isn't that bad. A stock Japan Spec Evo VII gets 6 km to 1 ltr. so thats basically 20 couple miles to the gallon. Well I guess when you write it down it doesn't seem that bad. But when you actually get behind the wheel your gas goes away pretty fast. I average 250 km to one tank (48 ltr). Thats only 155 miles to a tank and I don't even really drive all that fast either. I really feel sorry for the guy who has to drive 40 miles oneway to work. Wait a min he wanted to add a turbo to a lancer didn't he, not get an Evo, nevermind that last statement! But I guess the US Spec will have a bigger tank anyway but that doesn't mean you will get any better gas milage though.

1 gallon= 3.78 liters
1 kilometer= .6214 miles

hey your right Claudis I worked out the math, normallly when I fill it takes about 38-40 ltr so doing the math from 250 km you pretty much get 6 point something. Gas mileage sucks but its fun doing it!

Evo with 600bhp? 2 options really:

1) Buy an ex demo car from Jun or HKS, or...

2) Get your self a GT-R!

Either way its going to bloody expensive and very unreliable!

I think Toda makes a stroker kit for the Evo too (or maybe it's Tomei, can't remember).

I know they hadn't finished tuning the 600hp beast at Prospeed, but did you hear how rough the idle was? I'm thinking 450hp will be enough to take anything on the street or track. You have to figure that the evo is 3 to 600 pounds lighter than a lot of other "sports" cars. The only thing you have to watch out for are those 700hp+ Supras, but those are really only useful in a straight line. A lot of them have severe turbo lag, or use NOS to get the turbo spooling faster, and that just isn't practical for the track. I'd hate to see someone try to hook up all that hp through the twisties too.

e in sin city

BTW, there is a place in Phoenix called Max Rev. He built up this guys Supra, and it makes 800-1000 hp at the wheels, depending on boost levels. The major problem? At wide open throttle, the thing goes through a gallon of gas A MINUTE

I won't be using my 600hp Evo as my daily driver. If it was than maybe like 500hp and than when I get a car that will be my daily driver than I will make my Evo the weekend driver. Would it be hard to maintain a 600hp Evo? Is it hard to get an Evo up to 600hp or is it just extremely expensive?

My understanding is that this monster would have a fully built engine with a stroker kit to up the displacement up to say 2200cc. Tuning is key, a conservative state of tune with the aftermarket ECU should see it last longer. I suspect that it would be more unreliable than a stock EVO... can someone chime in here?

Sorry to ask this and is probably a newbie question, but what did Billy mean when he said, "can someone chime in here?"?
