C-16 vs. VP Import???

I just wanted to see if anyone has any personal experience using these different fuels. We are currently making pretty good power with the C-16. Just wondering what differences we should be expecting with the new VP Import fuel? How much retuning will we need to be doing, etc.

Any info, personal experiences or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

VP quoted "Makes 5% more power than C16 and similar nonoxygenated fuels". Thats pretty damn significant but so is the price! I hear its $20/gal. $100 for 5gal jug! Woah!

I'd like to hear some feedback as well...

Ya, I got a 15 gallon jug coming and know it is suppost to make 5% more power over C-16. I assume that is after it has been retuned, etc. I just wanted to see if anyone has used it before. This is for a EVO with around 700whp.

VP Import is really nice i think the claimed octain is 127??? . You can pretty much run as much timing as you want with it. When I used it in a Supra we ran 36psi and 30 degrees of timing, and no knock. The down side is it smells like crap and burns your eyes and costs $20 a gallon.

I think Al from Dynoflash used vp import for a while you might wanna ask him. At $20 a gal though that just gets expensive if your going to the track alot.

I know Tym Switzer has used it, and I am pretty sure Buschur has used it before. You might try giving them a call.

In my racing quad I used VP Ultimate 4 (U4), which has 6% oxygen in the form of MTBE and a few other things. It indeed made the claimed power, buy as you assumed you have to jet up (or increase fuel in the ECU). I am no tuner, but I assume you would start off by increasing fuel about 6% throughout the map, then tune from there.

The amount of timing you can run will change too.

I had the opportunity to try out the VP import when i was breaking in my engine at Topspeed. Yes it is pricy, but at only 27psi i was hitting 611awhp so can't wait to push it to about 38psi and see what it puts down. I'm guessing around 800 without nitrious so we shall see. i'm running a custom innovative turbo. VP import is worth it if you want to see serious numbers and top performance. That is just my opinion though.

you cant leave vp import in your gas tank for too long. its oxegenated so it will eat the protective rubber lining in the gas tank over time. other than that ive had tremendous success running 40psi and 20-25 degrees of timing

Ya, we just need to go back to Tuning Tech to get retuned for the VP Import fuel.

Ya, we made 609whp at 27psi at TT on C-16. We are switching over to VP Import to see what it will make at 38psi. Hopefully we be able to re-dyno sometime next week if Alfred has the time.

It would be cool to see a back to back comparison of c16 vs vp import @ 38 psi!!!

Be careful when you use VP import. it makes great power but you need to keep in mind different specific gravitys of fuel, as it does effect fueling. Something to watch, i am sure who ever tunes your car knows how to adjust for the 2 fuels, as there is a pretty big difference between the 2.

Ryan, did you get your tune for VP Import at TT ever? I am curious as to what fuel I should use for my race map there.
