Question Does an air intake have any long term effect on the engine?

Hi everyone. Can anyone please explain to me if there is any negative effect that an after market air intake system could have on an engine. I mean it lets in a lot more air with less resistance but it also lets in a lot more particles like dust and maybe rain water mist. Would that have any long term effect on the engine? or am I just paranoid? (lol) Any help would be greatly appreciated so next time im driving through the rain or hit a dust cloud Ill know for sure. Thanx again.

Some modifications to the intake system to make it less restrictive will always be beneficial, however, as with any other major engine modification, an accompanying level of corrsponding engine tuning will ALWAYS be required to reap the full benefits.

It's your choice if you decide that you''re going to modify the intake system, but if you do, be prepared for at least a reflash.

If you have a proper filter, no. Water usually shouldn't get near it anyway.

Just make sure you dont oil it too much as you will damage your sensor.
