Safe to drive in rain with hood vent & spark plug cover off?

I did a search and it seems for the most part it would be ok.

But I have my spark plug cover off and I was wondering if it would have any adverse effects?

I also have an AEM Short Ram intake...

make sure you have a good seal on the plugs it would take alot of water but it would hydro lock your engine. I live in Washington state and have never had a problem driving in the rain and as we all know it rain like cats and dogs here.

i wouldnt quote us on this, accidents always do happen... murphy's law is around us everywhere, and that monkey, he's always waiting to get out and give you a nice hard ramming in the rear.... why not put the cover back on ? did you break it ?

I realize that, of course there's always the exception.

I took the cover off cause I live in Vegas, and all we get really is sun, sun & more sun and sometimes a little rain thrown in for good measure.

I haven't taken the car to a car wash since I took it off, but when/if I do, I'll definitely put it back on.

Both mine have been of for 2 months and its allways raining here no problems. Also the plug wire has its own seal, so there should be no water getting in there

Its so hot in there that 1/2 the water is immediately vaporated!

and im sure thats great for the block and manifold... hot as hell, lets throw some cold water on it... extremely hot metal cooling suddenly to a temp lower then it was causes stress and fatigue...... not a great idea. with our hood vent, its impossible to get away from, but adding more variables into the equation isnt quite the answer
