Evo IX staying basically stock, best bang for the buck?
I did flash first on my IX. The stock ecu is really detuned, and for that matter, the intake and exhaust doesnt really add much without a tune on the IX. The ecu just doesnt recognize it/care. Get a flash, you'll gain hp and best of all, fuel mileage.
PS: If you dont want to get a manual boost controller, WORKS P2 flash controls boost completely. Tell them what you want your boost to be set at, and never worry about it again. Mine is rock solid at 20 psi all the way thru redline. MAYBE 1psi of taper in higher gears, but nothing noticeable. Not like the 1.4 down to 1.0 I was getting stock at high rpm.
As far as I knew, dynoflash doesnt control boost taper. They dont include the new boost hose with different pills like works does. But works is much more expensive. Keep that in mind.

20psiMR, all flashes do that, not just Works, including Dynoflash - it's just a part of the tuning. The problem is you can't RAISE the boost higher than stock without some boost hose modifications. As for you, 20psi is stock level boost and is way too low for a IX (even on 91oct). If you're running only 20psi, it doesn't indicate you're even making use of the modified boost hoses. Plus, the boost tapers more than you think - it's just a fact of life. You can't rely on your gauge to see how much it actually tapers.

When i PM'ed you at the end of last week i asked if boost could be controlled by a mail in Dynoflash, your reply was that no, it will only hold stock boost with less taper. Unless i wanted to modify my stock boost lines. SO now my question still exists; Can Al control my boost with just a flash?
Also, i believe the ECUflash software + Tantrix cable is a very similar solution to Cobb Accessport, am i incorrect? I mean i see the odviouse differences, but it will achieve him the same goal he is looking for, right?
Again, just hoping to clear things up.
I don't understand why you're confused. I explained it, and you repeated my explanation. No flash can just set the boost wherever you want. If using the stock BCS, the only way to RAISE the boost is to modify the pills in the lines. If you don't do this, the flash still controls boost, but it can't raise it - it does remove the stock taper, though.
Yes, EcuFlash will allow you to do some things similar to having an AccessPort, but IMO, it's even more robust and obviously a ton cheaper.

I guess i'm just confused on what your definition of "boost control" is, but i get what your saying now anyway, so who cares.
I just thought "boost control" was having the ability to adjust boost up and down accordingly.

Open loop is not changed, so gas mileage really should not be affected much, because the only place you're tuned is open loop, which is when you're WOT and boosting. Obviously, the more you boost, the less MPG you'll get. Boost for boost, though, you'll use less fuel than when stock.
Considering that Warrtalon's/BR's packages will render some SERIOUS horsepower increases on an Evo 9 and the car can still be considered basically "stock" I would say the car is unbeatable, for the price range and category.
As far as the TBE with the warranty, I have seen mixed reports from different dealerships. Some regional representatives will put it in ink that they dont find the problem with exhausts (I actually have one such document, how much clout it holds is questionable). If you have a floor jack and some jack stands, I would say a 45 minute job to replace the exhaust back and forth, with the downpipe. With the absense of an aftermarket downpipe, the job is very easy. However, check with the dealership you buy the car from or have bought it from to make certain.
As far as the flash, I am somewhat certain that if you get the cable for the OBD-II port, and EcuFlash program, you can save the stock map-get a mail in dynoflash, then switch back to the necessary map when required. This is unverified information, but compiled from what I have read.
As for the flash itself, I thought Al had solved the "problem" associated with the stock boost solenoid and includes this mod capable of holding 20psi, for the most part, but honestly, I am a fan of bypassing the unit. I find that a SOLID, mechanical unit is far more fail safe and unsusceptible to glitches and what not, though I dont know enough to verify that as well.
Warrtalon...having exchanged words in the past for other reasons, I honestly have to say that the products you have chosen to support are top notch, and would like to make it clear that even nobody has ever implied such, I would never knock the packages just becaused we've exchanged words.
That being said, I have a question for you....I am in the process of buying an Evo 9 and Im wondering if David has ever decided to reproduce the angle cut "JDM Style" Exhaust he made a few years back but cut from production.
I have my Helix and love it, but want something lighter, higher flowing but honestlty do not like the chrome tipped Buschur sig. exhaust. Any thoughts?

Really? I honestly dont like the fact that it the chromed tip sticks out as far as it does....on the Evo 9 I just dont see it looking good. I've been looking for pics......but cant find any.
The BR exhaust is light, efficient and will make power....at a lesser cost. I prefer that, however, I still do love my Helix. Not having even gotten rid of the Evo 8 Ive got currently, I am jumping the gun but I take forever to make decisions with stuff like this so I figure start now.
For starters Im going to go for the 3" TBE, a flash with EcuFlash cable and software, I would like to select an intake of sorts but soemthing simple will do, a fuel pump and thats that.
Ive been looking for average numbers for just such the appliciation, and if I didnt miss anything, do you know an off-hand average?

Are you talking about the Bullet muffler? It doesn't stick out past the bumper - it's the new lightweight, straighter, better-looking muffler that now comes standard. It is shiny chrome, though.
TBE/intake/flash? 330whp or so like my package. Earlier, you said you prefer an MBC, but you did not list one. With an MBC running the allowed 23psi on 93oct, you can do upwards of 350whp with a custom flash.
