I also think that the heat marks on the cams are normal, just where they were heat treated at the factory. The balance shafts are always worn on one side only like that (they are worn on the heavy side and have no wear on the light side).

dude you guys cant be serious. that heat checking is TOTALLY NORMAL. its from the original cam grinding procedure. it creates lots of heat...

Apparently so. This is the first set of OEM cam's I've removed from a DSM.

like others have said, the bluing is normal on the cam/balance shaft in 4G63s.
