I'll probably go for something around the 800cc/min mark to decrease the fuel pressure and be able to run a slightly bigger turbine
Hey Claudius, I was wondering if you put the stroker kit in at the same time as the HKS 3037. If you didn't, and were still using the stock turbo, could you tell us how much this reduces lag? Also if you know anyone else running the 3037 on an EVO, how much faster is the spool due to the extra displacement?

Hi TT
I dont know where you got the idea from that I have a 3037. I am still on the stock turbo (for now
) The car is much torquier low down an has much better mid range than a 2l motor. In fact, I have 400 ft/lbs at 4000 rpms and 400 bhp at 5000 rpms. That's a nice mid range for a stock turbine car, wouldnt you agree?

I was taken around Tsukuba in an Evo 6 with a 3037 turbo kit without stroker: the car only started going at 4500 rpms, very laggy before that. I remember we were going into a 2nd gear corner in 3rd and the driver floored it. Felt like a rental car when you accidentally shift from 1st to 4th
I have to admit it pushed well above 4500 rpms though
, but in a very linear manner, all the way up to 8,000 rpms. I personally like the car to be more brutal, so the punchy mid range is the type of thing I like. I guess it's a matter or preference...

WOW, I thought you had changed the turbos to push out that kind of power!
No wonder you can still use the stock injectors! I am assuming it is the 16G turbo. I was just wondering if the 400 hp was crank power or wheel?? power?. If it is crank power, what numbers are you running on the ol' dyno. I guess you are also around 4.7 0-60 and somewhere around 12.5 in the quarter.
P.S. I am all about the mid range power, I feel you pain. Although a strong pull to redline always makes me smile.

(there's a thread about that in Evo General
)

for a rally type road, twisty with lots of 2nd and 3rd gear corners and hairpins, the performance is all about the torque (and braking and body rigidity of course).I sold my Civic Type R this afternoon (200 bhp with VTEC, had it 2 months) and I liked the screaming engine over 6000 rpms, pulling all the way to 8400 rpms.
Sounds like it's going to explode
Fun to drive on a track or fast road, but lacks traction for the twisty roads (no front diff, FWD only). I liked it, but it's not good for my use.
