build engine and gt42r for street use?

Very true, the GT42R is such a huge turbo that it probably isn't very suitable for even a stroker engine, and especially NOT suitable for a 2.0 liter. If you tried using this turbo with a 2.0 liter the powerband would be shifted even higher (the turbo probably would even start spooling until around 5000-6000 rpms) than the 2.3 liter. I think this turbo is better suited for a inline 6 cylinder (i.e. RB26DETT & 2JZ-GTE). Our little 4 bangers just don't have enough exhaust gas to properly use a turbo of this size. Perhaps if you overbore a stroker engine to increase the displacement to 2.5L, and use higher than normal compression (9:1, or even 9.5:1), the spoolup and powerband would be shifted downwards to a friendlier RPM level. OR screw it maybe you should just buy a supercharger and twin charge:

I heavily disagree sonic, I was talking with Eric and Chris from AMS and there 42R actually spools up pretty quick!! You can do a 42R but I would stick with a 2.3 37R combo. Proven to run 9's, look at Dan Bajlas from las vegas, same combo and he is a mad driver! It can be done,
Thanks
Thanks
Define "pretty quick"? I don't think hitting peak torque at 10,000 rpms is "pretty quick". It really is all about how comfortable you personally are with turbo lag, and what your ideal powerband should look like. I like smaller turbos for the street because I like the better low end power (and reliability). I personally cannot stand the turbo lag of larger turbos.

the 42r is pretty damn big unless you want to spin a 2.0 to 9500 go with a 4088 it will make 7-800whp if setup properly and spool like a journal bearing t67
