ideas on twin fuel pumps????
i need some help from some people that have 2 fuel pumps or have a aftermarket pump like aromotive ect... my problem is i can't keep my fuel pressure up above 28psi so i need some help...
i have thought just running one 255 in tank & one inline 255... would this work??? how do i wire up the inline pump?? is there a install kit with a relay,fuse ect i can buy or do i have to peice it together??? you guys with the big pumps do you still have the stock tank??? if so how did you set yours up???

I've recently had arguments with people that believe that runing two inline 255 pumps doesn't do any better than one. I disagree, and am doing the inline approach. I'd like to hear others opinions.

FWIW, on Buick GN's, one fuel delivery upgrade used before stepping up to a large, single pump, such as a Weldon, is a staged, dual pump setup. Wherein, two , parallel, intank Walbro 342's are used. The second, or staged pump is activated via a Hobbes switch, set to come on at any user predetermined boost level. I guess nowadays it could be activated via your XEDE(or whatever).
This type of setup is nice because the 2nd pump is only used when it is needed...let's say above 22#, or whenever you choose to have it kick in. This setup avoids issues wih larger return lines, fuel pressure regulators, and overly rich off boost running.
Maybe I'm wrong but on a dual, inline setup, if the 2nd or auxiliary pump were to fail, the intank or primary pump would not be able to push though it and a pump bypass provision would be required.
Furthermore, I dont know if staging the second pump, in a dual, inline system would be doable or not. Like I said, the Buick setup was a dual, parallel, intank system. It required a custom, tandem, intank fuel pump hanger, a Y fitting and a special wiring harness including a relay and the Hobbes switch.
It was a sweet setup though. I had one on my Buick and the staged second pump was wired to light up a telltale LED in the gauge pod right next to the boost gauge. Like I said, you adjust the pump to kick in at the desired boost level.
The change in AFR's is really noticeable when both pumps are on together, as the car tends to run considerably richer.

I asked DB about this pump the other day and he said they made 550whp with it on their dyno. I believe it was a 35R...?

There is a reason the Japanese and Aussie tuners have had so much success with the multiple bosch pumps instead of running huge Aeromotives and the like. So go forward with the confidence that it will work whether you choose walbro's or bosch pumps. I've done it with both. jeff

I made over 600 whp on a single walbro and 1,000 cc injectors. A twin fuel pump set-up cost close to what a single pump set-up would. Another thing to consider is if one pump fails and your full in it, say bye bye to your motor. I've seen numerous walbro pumps fail. The only thing that sucks about a big external fuel pump is where to mount it and how to sump it. That's where the twin pump set-ups shine.
OK, why don't we piece together here a complete 650whp fuel system and if a vendor wants to put it together as an affordable package, that benefits us all. I would invite vendors, gurus, and members with fuel system system experience to contribute. Lets put it in the advanced section. Zeus, if you could please help with pruning the thread after it takes some useful shape that would be appreciated.
