Thoughts on engine ticking...
Hey all, mods are in my sig. I just got back home from a week and a half trip. I let me responsible friend take my car to HIN orlando. 300 miles total. No biggie. He owns a shop and does stuff for free for me so I know he would fix it if something is wrong.
Nonetheless, I picked my car up from him today and noticed a prominent ticking. I know the lifters are noisy but I have never had it this loud before. Thought it could be a cracked manifold but the car still pulls. Although I didn't take it too much. The ticking gets louder as RPM's increase although anything past 2500, you can't hear because of the engine noise. Before the car left, the only thing I did was slap new oil in it. This time 5W 30 Mobil 1. I know I should have used 10W 30 but a. they were out, and b. I have used 5W 30 in my 500 SRT-4 a ton and never had issues.
Are these lifters just finicky? I want to check the manifold but I see no obvious signs of cracking. Any secret tips on how to find a crack there? If it is the lifters...Are the J.A.M. lifters any good? Thanks in advance.

An increase as you are accelerating could possibly be a spun bearing. I had a ticking at idle but went away with accelerating and I found it to be my extra o2 housing bung plug had came lose.

I am SURE it isn't a spun bearing. I just went outside and checked it out with a BRIGHT LED light since I heard all of this about the spun bearing. Unfortunately, it is time to call DC Sports as the mani is cracked on a runner in the back. Nice fat crack.
I will take it off tomorrow and try to post pictures.

I trust him. He has taken my old car to the track a few times when his was down for maint. No worries there. It is a tubular manifold. It is bound to crack and I guess 7 months is "pretty good". I will have pics when I take it off. Possibly tomorrow.
