Would it not be risky for him to take his car to the dealer? If the dealer is going to check the ECU for the immobilizer issue, then the dealer might see that the ECU has been flashed. Depending on the dealer that might void his warranty. I am not saying that this is going to cretainly happen, but it is an unwarranted risk.

I really do not think it is wise for him to take it to the dealer since the problem seems to be in the flashed ECU.

That is very interesting as I was able to get the ecu to respond 4 seperate times as I installed it in 3 IX's and them re-installed your imobilizer code.

Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it.

Do you know anyone with an Evo or a spare ECU sitting around? Perhaps you could use a stock ECU from someone and test your car. That should pretty much tell you whether your ECU is toast or not.

I thought the ECU's were car SPECIFIC! as in you cant use different ECU's. they are key coded. Just what I read somewhere.

No updates - I am testing the ecu again tomorrow and will replace it if its not working. Out of thousands I have flashed it is very rare for one to go bad but if and when they do I replace them for the customer.

Weird. I thought the Evo-9 had a couple different types of ecu's that are car specific... but Al is a great guy, I am sure if anything is needed to be taken care of he would do it.

under the hood their is a fuse box and the fuse to look for is yellow and its about a half of a inch long, it is a main in line fuse, mine did the same thing and come to find out it was this fuse, if your standing in front of the car look in the fuse box right be side of the battery and it should be towards you in the center and remeber its yellow, make sure its still good. sometimes they blow from not unhooking the battery when your removing the ecu.
