turbochargers.com turbo owners report here
Pic of some of the turbos available from tiawan. 20g for evo not listed but available.
The point of my inquiry is I believe these turbos are good. I believe TC.com sells the evo GT for the DSM cars because they are good. I am trying to find if the 20g version is being sold here yet. TC.com has a photo of it on their site. But they claim they don't sell it. Looking for answers. These turbos a cheap if you buy from the factory. I want to be sure if I recommend the turbos to someone that I am not steering them wrong.

Oh, I know of that factory. You will lose 20whp by bolting on their "20g" over an EVO VIII turbo. How do I know? I have one of the 20g's sitting on my desk. Guys there's $249 T3/T4's on the market. There's a reason they are $249.
If you want to buy that 20G I'll sell it to you for $500 used. LOL

I have installed a Tiawan 20g with tdo6h wheel on an early galant. Car is full weight 3300+200lb driver. Went 12.1 at 114 at 22psi. Side by side you can't see much of a difference to a real MHI turbo. I am not asking if they perform well. I am asking if they hold up. I have tried two of the e-bay 57trim turbos. They lasted less than 5 minutes. I am not trying to start trouble with TC.com. They openly sell the tiawan evo GT(DSM) as a good turbo. They are even sueing Slowboy racing for campaining the evo GT turbos as junk. I have nothing against them. Just curious as to why they would picture the EVO VIII GT on their website. Certainly it should work as well as the evo GT (dsm) turbo. They are the same turbos, just mirror images of eachother.
I'll take $400 for the turbo if you believe in them, it has maybe 10-15 dyno pulls on it only (I really need to get it out of my office). This one is the unclipped one.

I forecast lots of broke evo's in the future.
Taiwanese turbos+ECU Flash * Evo Noobs =Carnage^3
You get what you pay for, and if you really believe that these are the real deal for a fraction of the price, enjoy. I know for a fact that these are not what you think they are. Gary is 110% correct, these are teh crapnik.

Is this the genuine article or some knock-off?

94AWDcoupe speaks the truth about these GTIII turbos and the
complete ordeal with Slowboy racing. Slowboy racing did a metalurgical
analysis and proved that the Genuine Mitsubishi turbo are different than the
cheap GTIII imitations. This was in regards to the TC.com GTIII turbos.
I bought a GTIII from an ebay vendor for my buddies 93 Plymouth Laser.
It lasted 2 months. Warranty my ***. Basically it was substandard quality.
It seems that a similar substandard turbo has now infected the Evo
community. Quite frankly, I would stay clear of those cheap knockoffs.
So please be wise and research before you spend your hard earned money.

Also, as a side note Turbochargers.com wasn't around at the start of the DSM. They didn't start making parts for the DSM until mid way during the production of the 2g.

The DSM comminity is filled with non mechanics and non tuners who put these things on their cars and ruin them from running the engines under high boost and detonation. The particles coming off the rod bearings will kill any turbo of any quality that doesn't have a filter protecting its oil supply. very few if anyone has run a filter on a 16g. The EVO community on the other hand has a much better feild of owners that will pay to have someone who knows what they are doing install a turbo and tune the car correctly.
I'm not going to get into an EVO owners vs. DSM owners debate but this is the biggest crock of **** I've ever heard in my life. You ride the backs of the DSM'ers that came before you with a do-it-yourself attitude that brought about the current level of products that EVO owners benefit from. Many of the people you pay to install things the "right way" learned by "doing-it-yourself" for years on DSM's. If it wasn't for the DSM your current EVO "gods" wouldn't have businesses.
I was going to wait to post this until my turbo was installed and I had numbers to back it, but this thread has become interesting at best. So now Im hooked like a soap opera.
I have an Evo9 20g 6 blade TME on the way. Yes...numbers will go up once everything is final. Any input on that would be great.

Well all i think he is saying is that a 16 yr old kid can and will easily pick up a dsm for 1k-7k.. and they are more prone to leaving out details such as adding in-line filters and actually doing things right... I for one started off in the DSM world and of course did alot of things half ***, as for me doing things half *** on a brand new 32k+ car is not going to happen. I would jump in my GST and attempt to tune the car without a second thought.. but Im not even going to think about tuning the EVO without an experienced tuner, who i have no doubt that you arent correct in saying they came from a dsm background. I dont think he was implying that EVO owners are more intelligent, they just have alot more to lose by doing it half-assed....

What's funny to me is that this whole inline filter thing came about because of the Garrett ball bearing turbochargers not being able to take any oil contamination and the idea that the inline filter would protect the turbo. Now it seems that if your installing a 14b and not using an inline filter that your somehow doing it the wrong way. What many of us have learned in the DSM world is that if your engine is producing enough particles to tear up the turbo, that won't be your only issue. While an inline filter might be saving your turbo, your engine will soon need replacement. Your more likely to blow the turbo up from high oil pressure than from oil contamination.
