turbochargers.com turbo owners report here

I would like to start this thread to see what the reliabilty and failure rate is. The stock replacement turbos and the 20g turbos they sell are manufactured in Tiawan. The same place that makes the controversial EVO GT turbo for the dsm 4g63. Thats why the 20g turbo from them is so affordable. It would be very helpfull If everyone who has one of these turbos would post in here how the turbo is working out.

I have installed two of these turbos so far. One has 1500 miles on it with no shaft play (15psi) The other has 600 miles of 26psi with no shaft play.

I think so far I'm the only one that has managed to blow one of these up.

How do you know they are made in Taiwan? These are still Mitsubishi compressor housings and turbine housings correct? And the 20G wheel is not made by any company other than Mitsubishi. Aren't all these products made by Mitsubishi? IF that's the case, and they are in fact made in Taiwan, then even the stock 16G housing would also be made in Taiwain.

I'm pretty sure he meant assembled in Taiwan.

taiwan does have the capabilities to copy many oem parts, so i dont doubt these could be made for taiwan. i used to work for an after market crash replacement company and all of our parts looked and fit like oem but they were made in taiwan. from radiators, alternators, headlamps and all. all they need is a mitsu turbo to make the mold and presto you have an exact replica of a mitsu turbo. not the same quality but looks the same.

I have heard nothing but bad things about Tchargers.com stemming way back to the start of the DSM days. I wouldn't touch anything they make.

The turbo pic of the "evoVIIIGT" stamp on the side is definetely not a oem housing.
I have about 6000 miles on mine @ 25-26psi. Still running strong, no shaft play.
