Mr snow, I have no idea what you mean about a baffel? What is it meant to do? Did you get the exact same filter i got?

I was saying that you should not put oil in this thing and use it for an air pressure filter. I believe this plastic is the type that will discolor because it is the harder clear stuff, I could see oil weakening it. If you put oil in it and it weakened it could blow up attached to a air compressor.

Like I said again, as a catch can, it will be fine.

the clear lower part is prolly of polycarbonate/lexan. engine oil is a pretty long chain molecule and non-polar, at most it will discolor the transparent plastic.

key to "catching" mist/vapor is long dwell/contact time-baffles and surface area for condensation eg stainless turnings, steel wool, porous frit

Here's what we were doing a few years back. I took these off my car because the plastic was cracking, splitting, and leaking from the heat. catch cans
