Buschurs modified walboro pump?

Damn! Was the guy you guys got the pumps from a DSM'er or what!?! That's the only thing that makes sense in my mind, another 'free' mod 
I would say who cares, as long as the info is all now out there. A few things should now happen:
-BR needs to lay the smack down on this guy that has been lying to them.
-BR should mod these things themselves & continue to sell them. Put a warning on them & advertise them as limited race use only...but add in your current failure rate and stats on cars like Dave's RS and whatnot. The pumps work, why not use them?
-Someone will come up w/ a VFAQ on how to do this, and people all over the world will have exploding gas tanks and give these things a bad name.

Who was the outside source? Now knowing exactly what they do to them makes knowing who they are non proprietary information and I would be curious as to what they say about the effects of the modification they perform was?
Also, if this was indeed the case, didn't Walboro strongly reccomend not doing this modification and that it would be a bad idea? If this was the case how could Walboro re assemble something they made good and dandy and you had an "outside" shop modify and send back to them to put back together?

You modified them or somebody else did? Doesn't seem like Walboro would want to touch or re assemble something with there name on it and send it out to the public whilst they knowingly thought it was a bad idea.

Terrific customer service.. got one of these pumps, return it,, even though the seem to work fine and have been proven on the drag strip...
who else would do that?

You guys can't fault Buschur's honesty. No other vendor would offer a no questions asked refund on used parts they can't resell. As everyone says, its not whether or not a vendor has problems its how they deal with them. I've been a Buschur customer for ~7 years off and on, and I've never been disappointed yet.

I understand that the refund was a nice gesture but if he was selling pumps that cost him 10 dollars of labor to mod 4-5 and then charged 5 times there cost it would be a pretty rough way to treat customers no?

If you read the thread you will see that Dave was buying the Pumps from another company who was claiming that they were doing more modification then they actually were. Chances are they were charging Dave a lot of money and he was just charging a fair price based on his costs. Assuming that everything dave said is true, and I have no reason to believe it is not, then he was not ripping any one off, it was the guy he was buying the pumps from who was being dishonest.
Scorke i know you can read cant you? If so you should have saw that Dave said he didnt know what was done to them. He paid a certain amount for something and set his price from there. I am sure he is not paying $100 for them and marking them up to $250.
Dave also claimed that they were done by the outside company and sent to walboro for final assembly. If you read what the lady who works for the company that OWNS WALBORO it said-

The only modification your supplier made to the pump (other than grinding
off the logo and part number) is to punch down the pressure relief valve on
the outlet side of the pump. (The little hole on outlet end.)
Definitely NOT something we want to see done; we do not endorse or authorize
this. It's a disaster waiting to happen, especially if the pressure
regulator fails to operate.
Safer option would be to use two pumps in the application.

If she acknowledged that they were unsafe would Walboro send them back out?
Either Dave ground off the serial numbers, or the "guy" doing the work did, either way I highly doubt they ever left Buschurs shop after ordering the stock ones, being that it makes no sense that Walboro would allow these pumps to go out knowing they are "a disaster waiting to happen".
