Talking Headers

Does any one have any good ideas on what kind of headers to put on my car. I already have the HKS exhaust and XS down pipe.

Thanks,
Will

You really need to start searching, man. YOu're asking the most basic newbie questions without using the newbie forum.

Take your stock manifold and get it ported/coated at Buschur. That's less expensive, more powerful, takes up less space, and won't crack.

well said. as i always say the same thing.

i just got my 10.5, manifold, o2 back from b/r after being ported. looks hooooooooot.

now they should be on there way back from swain teck for coating.

i highly recommend b/r and his services on the 3 parts above. you get the max power, and safty, and reliability all in one. next step would be full race for stock turbo header but come on the test show'd almost no change so it realy is not worth 900+ for the full race manifold to what d/b's 75.00 port job all for the same gian/outcome. full race and b/r top choice's and great parts. just depends on how deep your pockets are.

That sounds easy but actually is a bit different. You must drop the turbo a few inches because the turbos on the Evos are bolted on with two studs and two screws consequently the turbo MUST drop, you can't just slide the exhaust manifold.

On some 4G63 engines from Eclipses you can just slide the manifold, on the Evo you can't.

Plus, he didn't ask how to install one - he asked for opinions on headers - so I don't know why sleeperevo8 wrote that.

Sweet I'll defiantly have to remember to do a port on the stockers instead of going aftermarket. I've also heard that since most of the aftermarket headers are stainless, that they don't hold heat well and so spool up is a little slower then a header that's cast iron, which holds heat perfectly.

Perfectly said ! dont bother with headers unless you enjoy cracking them then replacing them
