does the 2.3 liter stroker kit or the stock 2.0 get faster 1/4 times?

2.3
The torque from the extra displacement will help you get you out of the hole faster and the quicker spool up will give you a broader power band to keep you puttin' down the track.

You said "stock" 2.0, so I'd say a nicely built stroker would be better at the track and could rev just as high. However, an apples to apples comparison of a BUILT 2.0 and 2.3 would be different. For probably less money, a 2.0 with upgraded internals will allow you to safely rev much higher than most strokers. This COULD save you an extra shift and/or allow your big turbo to spend more time in its big power range. This COULD make a 2.0 "faster" at the strip.

The 2.3 will have a spool and low-end torque advantage but those strengths are more valuable on the street or twisties. A nice high rev launch of a 2.0 "skips" most of the 2.3's strengths and keeps the turbo in its higher power band after every shift. I gathered this "displacement for dummies" perspective from searching a lot of posts. I'm by no means an expert. They usually ignore questions that are already addressed in archives. Good luck with your build!

I have definatly heard that a 2.0L motor makes a better drag motor, and a stoker kit is more for road racing and a track with actually turns.

4G64 destorke to 2.1L or 2.0L!!2.1L or 2L is better since this allow you to cross the line at forth gear and high rpm is where the turbo shine!!

the 2.4L 4G64 is the way to go for torque & w/Tomei 280 cams will pull to 8K+ rpm no problem. if u want to rev, get the Norris Designs 2.2L. it can rev over 8800RPM w/no reliablilty issues...

AMS and Buschur 2.3 also can spin to 8.8k!!Dan Bajalis(AMS 2.3 motor) spin to 8.9k for one season(He on second season now) and no single probelm !!Could you stop suggesting the most expensive part in the world??2.3L or 2.4L won't make full use of big turbo,so go to 2.1L or 2L !

The question is too vague to answer.

But since you did mention "faster 1/4 times" I'll assume you meant racing at the track instead of on the street. With that in mind, if you want the ULTIMATE drag race evo, everyone in the 9's is running 2.0's.

I've had both setups as have a few people on this forum. This subject has been beaten to death. The 2.0L or a 4g64 destroked to 2.1L is the ideal 1/4 mile set up. You're asking for trouble revving a 2.3L stroker to 8,800 rpms.

AMS runs a destroked 4g64. Dynoflash bailed on his 2.3L. The list goes on and on...

However a 2.3L or a 2.4L 4g64 is a very nice setup for the street.

The best answer to this question is turbo dependant. What turbo will you be running? Any small turbo will benefit from the extra .3 liters. Buschur (on his dyno) found the 2.3 to give 60tq and 30hp on a properly setup 35r car. When larger turbos are used higher rpms are needed to reap the flow. RPM bands need to be in the 6-10,000rpm range to make power with 40r,42r and 45r turbos. Strokers don't breath as well as 2.0s at those rpms so the shorter stroke/smaller displacment becomes a better choice.
