the motor in an evo8 shares very little resemblance to the 4g63 of the talon/eclipse. older evo motors do however fit, evo 5 and older i believe,.

Under the hood of an Evo VIII?

The engine is mounted 180 degrees from how you'd need it for your 2g though.

Well, he has said he's looking for an Evo 3 motor all along, not an 8.

i must have been drunk when i read your post, i saw
evoVIII when it said evo III.
roadraceengineering.com had a few links on their site to a few jdm importers. if you are considering a motorswap look to the 4g64, magnusmotorsports.com sells them(without core required i believe). 2.4liter hello torque and t66.

Dang, I was thinking I posted in the wrong spot.

I looked at RRE's list already. And I was thinking about the 4g64 swap from Magnus. I'm trying to find a front clip, I need the tranny, engine...all of it and front clips seem to be going to about the same price as Magnus's 4g64

Thanks for the help guys

You don't really need to swap. I'd rather build up that 4G63 in you car...with all the supports out there for the DSMs. You won't be empty handed

I need/want to replace my engine anyway, so I'm not going to rebuild a 7-bolt and I'll be doing a AT=>MT swap. Thats why I'd like to find a front clip...and to be a JDM ***** I think it would be neat

Wraith you are on the wrong website!

You have a DSM, you need to be on a DSM board and use the SEARCH function which will answer you question that has been asked a hundred times already.

www.dsmtalk.com
www.dsmtuners.com
www.dsm.org
www.vfaq.com

Already a member of DSMTuners and DSMtalk. I did a search of those sites and didn't come up with anything. Didn't think about checking vfaq.com

I figured I'd ask a few EVO guys about JDM motors

you are probably going to find it hard to get ahold of a complete front clip from an evo, there is no need for the wiring harness when doing the swap and nothing other than the motor is usually imported, possibly a tranny in some cases. to do the at/mt swap isnt fun either.
i know there was a shop i saw a while back that did have a few evo 3(?) motor/tranny setups for sale i just cant remeber where i saw them.

Go search DSMTalk some more, and you'll find out plenty about aquiring JDM engines. Evo engines are very hard to find, and most of the JDM 4G63s we get are from Galant VR-4s that didn't pass the renewal inspection (shaken, I think it's called), so they vary in quality.

You will probably find you're better off getting a USDM 6-bolt, and building it up with forged parts - the JDM engines don't actually have many advantages. Bigger injectors and a larger intake manifold are two of the main ones, I think, and those aren't even part of the engine itself.

Also, check out www.teamnabr.com for more advanced DSM info.
