prolbem with AEM wideband air/fuel
well, i found out the other weekend that my AEM wideband air/fuel was acting odd when al gave me my base flash. i didnt think anything of it. but for some reason while at wot the number read out just starts blinking and going blank. anybody know what could be the cause of this? i have the 02 sensor from the gauge screwed into a bung on my costum down pipe. thanks for any info guys
I was told by a friend with that setup that it is out of range... either reading richer than 11:1 or leaner than 17:1. Since the engine has not exploded I suspect you are running rich
Did it used to read leaner than that under WOT befor the tune?

actually since i had it installed into the car, its been acting like that. i didnt think nothing of it because i thought that was how it is. but when al was flashing me he even said its acting weird. i noticed on normal driving its usually more stoich. might take it into my shop to see what they say. maybe it is just running very rich.
The AEM reads that way on a stock EVO also. Al uses a wide band with a broader range (reads down to 9:1 I think) for tunning so the AEM unit would be wierd for him. Most of Al's tunes are a bit on the rich side for safety so I am not surprised at all that you are still getting the three bars.

what you are seeing is normal. If you see the #'s decrease down when it reaches 11.1 it will go with the dashes because it is too rich for the gauge to display. Reading stoich while cruising is also normal.

so thats normal then while going into WOT, and the gauge just blanks out? i dont think it could be the sensor because when i bought this gauge from a buddy. he barely used it. like i said im gonna monitor is today and see whats up.
The newer AEM's read to 10 AFR but the older ones (like mine) will not, if you hit full throttle and it goes all the way green with 3 dash's that means its just running richer than 11.0 afr. If the sensor was bad it would read lean.
donmeca2020 did you ever figure this out. I'm getting the same issue. I'm untuned with full exhaust so I'm probably running very rich. At idle I'm at 14.8 to 15.2. When I'm punch it it blanks out on me.
