I put in the act hdss a few months ago after finishing another round of mods and couldn't be happier. I kept the stock flywheel and have no complaints. I will probably never launch it unless there is a ferrari or something next to me so i expect it to hold whatever since my stocker was still good at 48000 miles. Pedal is def. heavier but u will be used to it the next day..at least i was. Drive it normal and get on it pretty much whenever and it will/should last. Its the launching that will eat it quickly.

See i go to the track alot though, so i am wanting a clutch that can take slipping. I dont go out and launch on a daily basis but I make a couple passes at the track i dont want the clutch to go out on me.

I took WarTalons advice and bought the Exedy Stage 2 clutch. Best mod that I've done to the car yet. at first, break in is a little harsh, but that's only 750 miles of harsh driving... after that, it's been sweet, not that rough in the traffic, i drive i-95 to philadelphia during rush hour on the way to my second job once or twice a week and it's not bad at all.

I talked to the Exedy themselves about this clutch because i was concerned w/ the lockout issue, i have attached a txt file with the email itself. If anyone would like to see the Exedy PDF file with all the specs, please PM me with your email address and I will be more than happy to forward it to you. it's a little to large to upload to the site.

Thanks
olsookie
P.S. Thanks again to WarTalon for recommending this clutch!

So If im looking to by a new clutch, and i only drag race wouldnt the stage 2 wear down faster since its only a 4puck though? i mean to me its not worth the extra money if its just going to wear down faster...?

Say like for my mods, Im not putting down anything crazy that would require me to get a awesome clutch just yet + money is an issue at this time but I just dont see me buying a stage2 if its not going to last as long as a stage1 if that makes any since "seeing that i slip the clutch to launch my car"
not to my knowledge, i believe that the 4 puck disc can withstand more abuse. anyone correct me if i am wrong.

one more note to add...

I have owned a few dsm's before my EVO and I experienced an ACT 2600 and a Clutch Masters Stage 4. I like the Exedy much better, I like the way it feels, it's engagement is smooth, a little chattery if you don't give it enough gas.

I have 3 launches at the track w/ my car, two of which have been at 4500 one has been around 5200... clutch just ripped away, feel no slipping whatsoever.

Wartalon is running higher horsepower than me at this time and I understand that he has a lot more launches than the normal person and his clutch is still pulling strong.

So your saying you dump the clutch you kind of confused me for a sec lol? to my knowledge you have to slip the clutch for launches to avoid xfercase/tranny damage....

since your not modding stick with the stock clutch or go with a centerforce dual friction. the CF clutch will give you stock like driveability and hold close to 500 ft lbs. of tq.

not many people have given reviews of the Centerforce dual friction. why is that?? i had one in my mustang pushing 400hp and love the darn thing. my mustang was set up for road coarse racing and you could just keep on giving it abuse and it loved it.

off topic-hey there Danny23, get your wheels on??
