Exclamation What other options for getting cold air into our intakes? One of my ideas:

Hey all...

MalibuJack confirmed with some testing that with just the stock intake snorkle along, you can lower air intake temperatures with an aftermarket intake. I wanted to take it to another step.

I added the top of the stock airbox in order to create an enclosure around my aftermarket Buschur Intake. The Buschur Intake's filter is too large for the full Malibu Jack Stealth Intake. Please see pictures below...

Before

After

My question is do you guys think this will suffocate the intake or cause any negative effects in any way? Do you guys also even think it will help cold in colder air better than just the snorkle alone?

I think I may construct a small box in the near future made out of aluminum to put around the intake element. I will cut a hole for the stock snorkle to enter also so that the filter can get some cold air. What do you guys think about that one? Suffocation again?

The options I see are just the snorkle with or without the cover, a purchased or self made induction box around the filter connected or not connected to the stock snorkle, sticking a piece of bent material right below the snorkle to guide more air into it, and Evodave's upcoming ram duct. Have you guys figured out any other ways?

Just curious to know what the community thinks. By the way, I am not putting my stock intake back on because I just had it tuned perfectly with my Buschur by Al. I am just curious to figure out a way to get more cold air through the intake.

Thanks!

I dont think that it will suffocate the intake by any means. If anything you are allowing the cold air that is being drawn in from the hood scoop a better chance to soak into the filter...

I have been toying around with the idea of making something similar out of fiberglass...

HKS Kasani intake seems to be the best you can get for the Evo.

You know that might actually help. In a thread earlier we were talking about leaving the stock inlet on with an aftermarket filter but that takes it one step further. May shield it from some of the heat as well

Why not just use a drop in?

My current custom tune by Al is for my Buschur intake and I know that I can squeeze just a few hp more with this setup than with the stocker. Just trying to get more cold air to it...

+1, but each to their own. Variety is the spice of life.

My opinion is that most people buy intakes for the evo for the sound or the look, unless they are going for really high HP.

Kinda ruins the look of the intake, but def looks like it would add cold air
