Installed clutch and now i cant boost.
Alright.. So i had my car at my friends family shop.. they basically gave me the best deal on a clutch install i can possibly think of. Atleast 500$ cheaper then most people priced me. Anyways.. So i get the car back today.. and im just doing some normal driving.. breaking in the clutch.. and i decide to turn the Boost controller on (Greddy profec b spec II) And as im trying to boost.. It wont go anymore then 10/11lbs. So I figure since the battery was disconnected for the 2 days it was in the shop.. maybe the settings on the profec went back to stock.. so i check.. and they are what i had them set to when i had dropped the car off at the shop. So.. I pop the hood and check everything... and all of the vacuum/boost lines seem to be in place.. i check the UICP from what i can see and its all tight.. and then i take off the airbox and check my Profec soleniod and it seems to be connected and such too. So im stuck like chuk... i cant figure out what the problem might be? Is it possible the profec solenoid went bad? or... Is something not connected? I checked everything i can think of and still havent found the problem source. Any suggestions would help GREATLY. Thanks!!
i dont really know what to tell you. you car boost higher than 10 or 11psi stock so even if the profec b is messed up it should be boosting higher i think. but sometimes when my vishnu xede doesnt load up a map it only boosts to like 10 psi. was this 500 dollars cheaper including the clutch? because im gettin my clutch put in for like 500 dollars lol.

And yeah... most places other than one shop, wanted to charge me around 900$ to do the install. I got it done for 450$ at a friends shop though.
It's pretty simple. 10-11psi, as we always say (at least 1000 times) , is base wastegate pressure. This is what you see when the boost system is not hooked up properly. You have to do more than just CHECK the solenoid and CHECK the hoses. You need to get down in there and ensure that every hose is perfectly installed to every reference point (turbo, wastegate, solenoid, tee?), and then make sure that you have the proper hoses installed.
I don't mess with EBCs, since they are so complicated and expensive when an MBC can do that job so easily with no complications. However, I'm guessing that the EBC requires that you either use hoses with restrictor pills like the stock lines or use hoses that have NO restrictor pills. I have no idea which one it is, but one of the most common causes of this incredibly common "Help, I can't boost!!!" phenomenon is that the solenoid is unable to properly regulate the boost due to having improper lines or improper routing of the vaccuum lines.
The first thing you should do is put the boost system back to stock, which requires the 100% stock OEM lines. When you do that, you'll see your stock 19psi or so. Then, you can re-install the EBC with whatever lines it requires and troubleshoot from there. If you can figure it out quickly based off my info and not have to go back to stock, then that should save some time.

Actually, the boost line setup for the Greddy Profec B Spec II is significantly easier to figure out than the stock setup. No restrictor pills, no tees, just two vacuum lines. It sounds like your solenoid may be hooked up backwards or is not getting power. Make sure the wires going to the solenoid didn't get cut and that both ends of the wire are seated correctly. Going back to stock configuration would be a lot of unnecessary work; I would do that only as a last resort.

Check hoses to/from boost controller first and make sure they are hooked up right and not leaking. Check the MAF second, and make sure it is plugged in. Either can cause the issue you are having. $500 is a decent price for a clutch install, but I guess you won't be eating any STI's till you figure it out.

sorry to hijack..i just had a shop install my clutch also and i wont get the car back till monday. the thing is i know i need to break the clutch in so i probably wont be boosting but what if this samething happens to me? will it hurt the clutch if i just wanna check if i can get full boost? does it matter if i shift at like 6500 rpm just once or twice during the break in? i seen the mechanic unplug alot of wires and took alot of sh*t apart so im just really paranoid they might miss something when they put everything back together
