Boost Creep &/or Spike Please Help

Alright I installed a Hallman Pro RX MBC and Autometer CF boost gauge today. I have a IX and it is bone stock. I first installed the boost gauge and drove around to monitor stock boost levels. In mid day heat it pretty much held at 15psi @ WOT in third, fourth and fifth with very little taper to 7k. After that I installed the MBC with the spring it came with(light spring) and started adjusting. Well I ended up cranking all the way down and I saw17psi @ WOT again in third, fourth and fifth. So this is the max boost the light spring will provide? So I took off the MBC and installed the heavy spring and backed it all the way out and went for a drive. WTF? I was spiking to like 28/30psi tapering down a little to like 26, with NO adjustment. It also had a bad hesitation between shifts. All connections are solid so it isn't a leak. Should I put the other spring back and only see 17psi or is there something I am missing. The car has BP 100 octane in it and I let out of it very quickly when it started acting up. The hesitation thing was strange as well because it didn't happen with the lighter spring in. Can anyone give me some friendly advice, thank you.

might be a stupid question, but are you sure the lines are on the right nipples of the turbo and mbc?

Well I have the outlet nipple from the turbo plugged, the nipple from the intake plugged, the the factory BCS plugged, the line from the wastegate running to the MBC(wastegate side) and I have T in BOV line with the line running from that to the MBC(boost side). It seemed okay until I changed the spring then all hell broke loose.

i use the stiff spring in my hallman but hook it up directly from the turbo compressor nipple since that is a boost only source and doesn't see vacuum like the DV line, i'd try that and see if it helps.

I will probably hook it up that way if I can' figure something out tonight I am going to mess with it some more and If nothing happens I will tear it apart tommorow. I have heard of everyone running it the way I have it no and it seems that is the most popular way, ya never know.

Please for the love of god someone help me! I have trid everything to fix this but I can't get past 17psi without some sort of cutoff. I have a bone stock IX with MBC. Like I said before when I installed the boost gauge and test drove I saw 15 psi with a ltlle taper at redline now no more boost @ 17psi.. Is it because of where I tapped in for the boot guage, I taped in at the line from the intake to what i gues is the fuel pressure sensor. I hooked up the MBC like everyone else here(or at least the majority). Obviously I don't want to hurt the car. I set boost for 15psi and it holds to redline and actually feels a little better than stock. What should I do and what connections would you reccomend?

When I installed my hallman, it would not boost past about 10 psi with the light spring. The stiff spring helps.

Get a tune to remove fuel cut.

Well I am the dumbest sob there is. Alright let me first state that I have installed many Autometer products such as this exact mechanical boost guage on mostly supercharged Mustangs. I have never had a problem like this before. Well to make a long story short the boot holding the boost gauge line some how developed a small tear. After pulling everything apart and contemplating going back to stock I discovered this tear. If I would have checked that first I would have saved about 3 to 4 hours of labor and not being able to sleep. I really started to doubt myself even though this install was rather easy given the fact I have worked on modified cars in the past. So to those of you who encounter stupid hickups like this don't always doubt yourself first doubt the aftermarket engineer. Ha Ha j/k but seriously sometimes a tiny little tear in a small rubber boot can cause absolute havoc. I am gonna say that do to where the line was tapped that the leak was great enough to screw up the pressure reading thus causing cutoff. So after fixing the problem I did not touch the MBC so I could see where I was actually boosting, 19 PSI. Wow was I relieved to see that. So I turned it up to see if it would hold and everything is fine, it is now set at 21 PSI and tapers to 18/19 close to redline. I should be safe I hope like I said earlier I have some good fuel in it. It now feels 100% better, it is an animal well at least for stock. I guess the fact that it holds the extra PSI in the upper RPM range makes it pull so much better. It doesn't really feel like it's pulling much timing either. I do not plan on raising the boost anymore until the other mods come in I just wanted to install the MBC to get control of boost when I do get a tune, etc... Time to go clean her up now. Lesson learned and thankfully nothing was hurt.
