Crank Vents

I have been trying to decide which cath can to get and I came accross these. I was wondering if these should be used in conjunction with a catch can or not. Also, dejon claims that you will gain horsepower?

Any insight would be appreciated...

"Crank Vents solve the problem of pressure buildup in the engine during boost due to pressure entering thru the PVC valve. These devices are one-way valves that can stop 1000psi. The big one goes between the manifold and PVC valve (shown on left) to stop boost from entering the engine. The small one goes on the valve cover vent to pump air out (not in), building a vacuum in the crankcase. This results in more horsepower (stop pumping air below the piston). If your dip stick pops out under boost, this problem will be cured also."

Those look like a very good PCV valves. A PCV valve is a check valve in a boosted motor, it lets out pressure from the crank case, and stops boost from entering the case. The line from the valve cover is supposed to go your intake which creats a little vac on your crank to remove any pressure due to blow by.

So how exactly would these crank vents free up/give you horsepower gains?

this solves the dipstick blowing problem it keeps the crankcase under vacuum. its pretty crazy actually my friend had these on his vr4 its hard to pull out the dipstick with the motor on because there is so much vacuum

They might give power if the pcv your replacing is not functioning correctly or is inefficient. The factory pcv on our Evos is a functioning one way check valve made of metal. Other car manufacturers might use plastic pcv such as my previous car SRT-4 had and those things would leak. Probably thats how you gain power because plastic pcv's were boost leaks in which this stops.
