Really Hard To Shift In and Out 6th
i ran my car a little hard last night and now i'm finding it very difficult to shift in and out 6th. it doesnt feel like a lockout. i can shift into 6th every time but i have to pull really hard to get in or out of it. i have to keep pulling until i fully get into 6th gear. same thing with down shifting out of 6th. i can shift perfectly fine from gears 1 through 5 and also into reverse. 6th gear is the only one giving me problems. anybody know what it could be? i changed my clutch out about 4k miles ago to an Exedy Stage 2 and everything seemed fine until this. should i check my shifter cables or could it be a much bigger problem?
My dad got the older bearings taken out of the car and put in Shifter Base and Cable bushings from WORKS. He replaced the OEM ones because the shifts felt notchy as hell. Anyway, no problems getting in and out of 6th with new bearings. So you might just have to switch out the bearings for better ones....
I know from experience that after drving a little hard, do nuts, banging gears, racing, etc etc you clutch is really worn was my answer lol. Itll prolly go out within 5k miles..... good luck.
p.s. your next symptoms will be the same but in lower gears, then less tq/pull, then slipping

Listen to all the noobs that say buy a 5sp. Then come back when you have synchro problems
If you were bangin gears then you probably sheared the retaining clip for 6th. A few people have done this. What the hell do you need to be bangin gears at 140mph for anyways?

I had the same problem with 6th gear eventually reverse will go out too. I went with a 5spd swap with longer gear ratios huge difference over the 6spd. My 6spd grinded almost all gears 4-6 and now the 5spd never grinds. Go with a 5spd with longer 4th gear.

I have the exact same problem, I've posted here a few times already. I bought my car with 41,xxx miles and I didn't notice until I drove it home.
I took it to the dealer and they told me to change out the fluid. Well I did that and shifting is a little better but 6th is still the same. I have yet to take it back because they said they needed "authorization" from me to tear it down and determine the problem.
I'm guessing if they determine it was abuse from the previous owner I'll have to pay for the tear down, which I dont have money for at the moment. So I'm just waiting to save up just in case, but I think a built shep 5spd is gonna be my only solution.
Anyone know how much the teardown might be?
