How much power till tranny upgrade?

Just as the thread title asks, when did you decide to upgrade your tranny? By that I mean getting some work done by ShepRacing or TRE, not just an upgraded clutch. Right now i'm making 325whp on pump and 390whp on race on a dyno dynamics. If I just upgrade the clutch and don't do anything else to the transmission, will I start to break drivetrain parts when I start launching and beating this thing? Thanks in advance!

What year is your Evo? if it is an open diff 03/04 then I would upgrade the T-case. If you have any grinds in the transmission have Shep or TRE rebuild it.

If you drag the car you're better off getting it built before you have a problem.

Trany

If you have an 03 there is a recall on the trany. They will change all of the synchros.
I have seen EVOs pushing 550HP + and using the stock trany.

You dont need to upgrade anything until it breaks. If you have buttloads of money and time (EVO isnt daily driver) then upgrade "before it goes". Even then, you could be wasting money.

Turbotrix's 9.7 EVO is on their original stock 2003 transfer case
Buschur's 8.9 EVO is on the stock transfer case.
AMS's customer car with 903whp is on stock transmission.

The Evo has a German engineered tranny. It is a Getrag tranny, the weak link would be your spider gears(03) in your transfer case and your differentials.

Those cars are all exceptions and are driven mainly at the track by experienced drivers. You can shell a tranny at stock power levels if you don't know how to drive or get a bad case of wheel hop.

If your car has an open front diff, I'd recommend going LSD BEFORE you break it that way you don't ruin anything else when it does break. Call Shep or TRE and ask them what breaks the most, they're both very experienced.
