Weird vibration/humm/buzz rpm specific
Weird vibration/humm/buzz rpm specific
Well my Evo just developed this a few days ago. I'm not sure if it's related to my poor clutch or not. The clutch is not failing on me, but I know it's not happy after some hard launches.
Here are the symptoms: At approximately 3200 rpm (mostly heard in 3rd and up since the exhaust is quieter) this sound is present. No other RPM, no other problems or symptoms, just when at or passing this rpm.
I hear this buzz much like going over the rumble strips at high speeds. The thing is that the buzz is not as loud as actually hitting the strips, more of a quieter version. I can't locate it, other than being in the front. It's not left or right side specific.
I can't find any loose lugnuts nor anything wrong with the tread of the tires, or loose heat shields . Also I'm baffled that it's only at that rpm whether i'm accellerating or actually cruising. (This is very annoying when I am up to highway speeds and trying to cruise). City driving is not apparent.
I checked my oil, it's fine, there is no leaks in the tranny or TC. The *Only* thing I can think of that had changed, is that I sold my Greddy BOV the other day and put on the stock BOV. Of course, this sound is not vac/boost dependent either.
What to look for next? It's really bothering me that something is going wrong with the TC or driveline. I had just changed all my gear fluids maybe 2K miles ago, with all the proper diaqueen etc oils.
Thanks, I hope someone can point me in the right direction to diagnose this. It has a lot of people baffled.

I have seen a problem with tires, but usually it would be at a rpm and higher, not just a certain tight point... also this sound is only on accell/cruise and not on a decel etc.
My next step would be to rotate the tires to see if it changes things, but it's not readily available for me to do now since my normal garage and tools are kind of tied up. (a newborn baby so I don't want to disturb)
